Elviras Taqueria — Restaurant in Cathedral City

I had never wanted to do a review, but I think there are several aspects to consider if you decide to eat in this place. I have two different experiences now with the remodeling of their bar. Let's start with the food: it's still the same as before, excellent Mexican flavor and essence, great dishes and good price, the most authentic food. We continue with the service: I have returned to this place two times, they took a long time to bring my food to the table and there were not many people. I don't know if it's because of the waitresses or the cooks. As I said, I have had two experiences, one with one of the girls that makes you feel at home, and another totally different that gives a completely unpleasant vibe to the place. Finishing with the atmosphere: the staff has a lot to do in food places, the atmosphere has completely changed since they have the bar, it is full of drunks and with the waitress screaming everywhere it seems that I went to eat in a club and not at...

We stopped in to try the newly renovated Elvira’s, and wow — what an upgrade! The space is beautiful, bright, and much more spacious, making it a comfortable spot to sit down and enjoy a meal. The addition of fantastic table service makes the whole experience feel elevated while still being warm and welcoming.

The food was absolutely outstanding. We shared the carne asada nachos and tacos (the kids immediately gave them 5 stars!) and the birria tacos, which were packed with flavor and also deserving of a 5-star rating. What stood out most was how good the meat was on its own — tender, juicy, and seasoned perfectly — but every element on the plate worked together to make it even more delicious.

To top it off, I had a piña colada that was perfectly blended and refreshing, the ideal balance of sweet and creamy.

I had an absolutely amazing experience at Elvira’s Taqueria in Cathedral City! I ordered the birria burrito with consomé, and it was out of this world—flavorful, tender, and packed with deliciousness. The tacos were equally amazing—perfectly seasoned and satisfying. And let me tell you, the horchata here is hands down the best I’ve ever had; it’s refreshing and perfectly sweet.

What really stood out to me was the customer service. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and made me feel so welcome.
