Bangin’ Fish and Chicken — Restaurant in Catonsville

My office did catering on two separate occassions. I was told that this place was better than Hip Hop and the lines were always out the door, so we decided to try them. The first time we ordered 30 wing/leg mix w/fries and potato salad. There was no issue with the chicken, I personally prefer the batter/seasoning on Hip Hop chicken but it was fine. However, the potato salad was delicious; I'm pretty sure they're holding somebody's "Big Mama" hostage in the back forcing her to make potato salad. The second time we ordered a half of pan of potato salad and greens; we also ordered lake trout, wing/leg mix. and 5 pieces of cake (three carrot, one strawberry and one chocolate) The fish was horrible; it tasted like grease, there was no other taste other than grease. It was hard and seemed like it was old and had been refried. The greens were "Ok" (I think they were frozen kale). I had a piece of the worst carrot cake that I have ever had the displeasure of tasting. It was absolutely horrible; two bites and it went in the trash. The icing on the carrot cake was white and tasted like unsweetened whip cream; the whip cream texture was thick, which made me think that they made it themselves. Before I tell you that the food here is better than Hip Hop Chicken, check your bag before you leave, let me share my experience. I’ve ordered from this place many times without any issues, but during one visit, I ordered 10 whole fried wings and only received 7. When I called the store to report the mistake, they told me to hold for the manager. I waited on the line for several minutes, listening to background conversations between workers and customers, but no one ever got back to me, so I hung up.On my next visit, I politely asked the lady behind the counter to double-check that my order of 10 whole wings was correct. I explained that last time, I was short 3 wings. Her response was, "Really?"—with no apology or acknowledgment of the previous mistake. While she did have an employee recount the wings, which I appreciated, her attitude made me feel like I wasn’t being believed. I wasn’t asking for anything in return, just a simple "I’m sorry" or a bit of empathy. Not everyone is out to game the system.Mistakes happen, and I understand that, but a little understanding goes a long way. The food is great, and I’m sure errors like this are rare, but from now on, I’ll always double-check my order before leaving....
