Just had the WORST LUNCH EXPERIENCE EVER!!! I ordered the fried catfish, mac & cheese and lima beans. The first bite of the fish I noticed how greasy it was, I immediately alerted the wait staff ( the hostess), and she took my entire plate which included the fish and mac & cheese. My waitress came over about 10 minutes later to a adjust my ticket, she took for granted that I had eaten the mac & cheese so she now charges me for the mac & cheese and the lima beans. I informed her that I did not have a chance to eat the mac & cheese because it was taken back with the fish, so she's now charging me for the lima beans. Mine you I am on lunch break and no time for a reorder of food, so Im saying to her my lunch was ruined I didn't come to just eat lima beans, I am the one inconvenienced yet you still want me to pay you for some lima beans? I asked to speak to the manager/owner. When I tell you this Owner came over to me with a HUGE ATTITUDE as he approached me, before I could even tell him the problem, he YELLS You ordered fried fish, fish is fried in grease, what do you expect? what do you want from me? and you ate the lima bean, so yeah you have to pay for them!! WOW!!! I eat fried fish often and never have had it greasy like this. I've even ordered it from there in the past with no problem. This Owner was RUDE, HOSTEL AND VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. I gladly paid for the lima beans, but will never ever eat at this place again, and couldn't wait to get back to work and tell my co-workers who were on there way there, what happened. I will continue to spread the word, make sure you don't complain to them about the food, because there ain't a damn thing they are interested in doing about it. I can't believe the business is still operating with an Owner...
Read moreWe were traveling through and looking for a place to eat and saw they were busy. Which is usually a good sign. The service was good and the young lady was attentive. The only reason I gave her a 4 rather than a 5 is I ordered 2 eggs but got 4. Not sure if I was charged more or not, just not worth it. The eggs were well cooked as ordered. I also ordered sausage gravy and biscuits along with hash browns. Now these were not the usual hash browns as the shredded potatoes were more elongated square than the normal hash brown, which made them actually better. These were shredded at the restaurant not bought in and very tasty. The potatoes were probably the best of my meal and the eggs were cooked very well. Now the bad part of my meal the sausage gravy and biscuits. The biscuits were good, but they couldn't make up for the horrible sausage gravy. First the gravy was a white type of gravy which is not good and the sausage appeared to be old sausage patties cut up in sizable chunks that tasted old and nasty. I couldn't eat the sausage. Given this restaurant is in the south if I could give this dish a negative 25, I would. Do not get the sausage gravy it is horrible. My friend got the meatloaf dinner. The meatloaf looked good and he enjoyed it, but the mash potatoes appeared to be instant potatoes and not so good. I think this restaurant does somethings very well and while busy, I think the locals know what is good and what is not. I think you just need to be aware of what they do well and what they don't and you can enjoy this place, especially given the prices are on the cheap side, so there is value here if you choose...
Read moreThis is an honest, hard working diner, reminiscent of the diners of the midwest. I ate breakfast on a Sunday morning at the bar. There's a line by 9:00am that steadily grows after that, so time yourself.
This is a diner, which means they serve good, solid, stick-to-your-ribs meals that provide enough fuel to go out and chop down a forest. Nothing fancy, but well done, through years of practice.
The service is friendly and quick. None of that "it's not my job" attitude here, they work as a team and get it done. I know, I was sitting at the bar and watched them in action. My coffee cup was never empty, at least three people asked how I was doing. I felt like part of their family with "honey", "sweetheart", etc interspersed throughout my interactions with the wait staff. Tables are bussed as soon as you stand up - kudos to those gentlemen too.
And please give hem a break, the servers move non stop. If your jelly bowl doesn't have strawberry, try grape for once - these people are busy humping great trays of steaming hot food to someone. They'll be back to see you as soon as they're able.
And don't forget a good tip, after all, you're already getting great value for your dollar. They work twice as hard as some of the fru fru places I've eaten and I'm as guilty of leaving tips based upon the percentage of the bill as the next guy, and that's after putting up with attitude, but these people work hard, always have a smile and deserve more than the...
