Ordered a coffee and loved the mug. I'm not a big coffee expert so I have nothing to say about the taste to me it was a classic cup of coffee. The margarita on the rocks was on point. They served you chips with two different salsas, everyone makes their salsa their own unique way, some stand out with fantastic flavors in your mouth and some don't. These salsas worked their purpose but nothing that stood out. They also served a small dish of smashed beans to munch on before food. The beans were very tasty. I'm not a fan of onions and don't really care for "pico de Gallo" (PDG) on every Mexican dish so had I known and I should have expected there to be a dab of it on the beans, I would have asked for none. I ordered chicken taco, cheese enchilada and chili relleno, it was served with beans, rice, sour cream, guacamole which had onion and you guessed it PDG and a Cole slaw. So we know the beans are on point 👍, the rice was also good. Now the chicken taco, the meat was a lil on the dry side with no real burst of flavor just plain chicken but a very nice crunchy shell, definitely not the type you'd get a DelTaco so that was a plus. The cheese enchilada was nicely presented however the sauce was more of a blended fresh tomato not the normal red chili sauce I am use to. The relleno had a weird almost crepe style wrapped batter, not dipped. The Cole slaw, not sure how this made it on the plate. If it's supposed to be curtido for the taco, it wasn't the fermented curtido I am used to. If I sound like I was complaining, I'm not, just going off my taste in foods. Everything on my plate was gone only thing I left was the PDG and the slaw. Overall being over 400 miles from home I was happy to find a good Mexican restaurant that I would go to again, of course when...
Read moreIt was pretty nice of Don Miguel to let us chill at his house and eat his food, he's obviously a way generous guy. We came here after hiking Kanarraville Falls, around 4 PM. It wasn't rush hour yet, but it seemed like a decent amount of people had heard the call of good Yelp reviews and come to try the food. Considering there were only 2 servers for 20 people, this glut of customers a negative impact on the service: we waited 15 minutes to have our order taken and 30 minutes for our food to come out. After consulting other reviews, it seems that others have had similar experiences with the wait times and lack of service.
My dad and I both ordered the combination platter with 2 burritos: once my wife's juicy, colorful, succulent Chicken Fajita Salad came out, it quickly became obvious that we had made a poor choice. The combination platter suffered from a disease widespread among Mexican restaurants known as "bland beans and rice-itis", I'd avoid it if you go.
Don Miguel's Bachelor Pad has some plusses: the Chicken Fajita salad was great, and the ambiance is good. However, it floats in this vacuum between cheap, tasty hole-in-the-wall and upscale, delicious quality meals. If you come through Cedar City and skip Miguel's House, you won't have...
Read moreGreat place. The manager is very personable and the waitresses are on top of everything. Drinks and chips stayed topped off and food came pretty quick. I must say I had the super burrito and it was not very big compared to other places I've been. The red enchilada sauce that was supposed to smother the burrito was non existent as well as the rice and beans that was inside. I recommend the regular burrito with rice and beans on the side so you can see your food. That's another thing the presentation was off but it was probably hiding the size. The whole plate was covered in lettuce. When they brought it I was like I didn't order a salad but there was a burrito under there I used the drop of sour cream on top as a navigation tool. Hey it worked. Bigger, less, more. I am all over the place with this one. I will be back because I like the people and the atmosphere but I will mention bigger bigger or hey offer a macho sized burrito instead of a super. It's all just learning how each place works the first time. I will review again next time I'm here and let you know how it goes. I'm sure I won't be...
