Was in town visiting a friend and decided to have dinner here before meeting up. Should have asked for her recommendation beforehand as she didn’t think highly of this place and after my experience, neither did I.
Went on a slow Sunday evening with only a handful of customers. Atmosphere was fine. Service needs improvement.
Food. Bone Marrow was fine. No real complaints. Some bites were less than desirable taste wise but not too sure if that’s the fault on the cook given its bone marrow.
The Steak Frites, however were just way too over-seasoned. The steak itself was good, cooked medium. Fries were just too seasoned to the point of being salty. Basically left them alone because between the steak and fries, it was tastebud over load. Not a fan of steak and eggs but egg was fine.
Service needs improvement. The bartender who served me was nice but she had forgot to ring in my steak and made me wait 20 after my appetizer was done to do so. This was also AFTER I was done with my appetizer and she asked if I needed anything else, and saying no waiting for my steak, and then was handed the check prematurely.
Also watched a couple of cooks take seats at the end of the bar to talk to the severs before more customers had come in, which personally for me isn’t an issue in a college town and the environment, but the obvious distractions affected service and what should have been 45 minutes turned into double that with a majority of it waiting for my food to be done and then not being impressed with the food. This was also irritating because these customers had come in some time after I did and had their food served first, ate their food, and left all before I was done with my meal.
Also sat at the bar and stared at their liquor selection the entire time. Might not be for everyone.
Was not impressed with this restaurant and needs...
Read morePatton Bar and Diner in Cedar Falls, Iowa, serves up an incredible breakfast experience that is not to be missed! During my visit, I had the pleasure of trying their biscuits and gravy, breakfast tacos, and a pancake, and each dish exceeded expectations.
The biscuits and gravy were absolutely comforting, with soft, flaky biscuits smothered in a rich, creamy gravy that was packed with flavor. It was the perfect balance of hearty and savory, making it a standout dish.
Next, the breakfast tacos were a delightful surprise! The tortillas were fresh and warm, and the fillings — scrambled eggs, beef chorizo, and flavorful spices — were perfectly balanced. Topped with a bit of salsa, these tacos were an excellent mix of bold and satisfying flavors that left me craving more.
And let's not forget the pancake — fluffy, golden, and downright delicious. It was the ideal way to round out the meal, served with a touch of butter and syrup that added just the right amount of sweetness.
The atmosphere at Patton Bar and Diner was warm and inviting, with friendly service that made the experience even more enjoyable. Whether you're a local or just passing through Cedar Falls, this spot is a must-visit for anyone craving fantastic comfort...
Read moreThe food is as good as this diner is adorable. Very authentic diner decor with a touch of industrial chic. Staff are wonderful: friendly (but not overly so), helpful, efficient. It's such a joy to have good coffee and booze and food in one venue. Don't you just hate washing down a delicious brunch with a cup of s$tty Farmers Brothers coffee that tastes like it's been on the burner all day? You won't experience that disappointment at Patton. Cubano: my husband and stepson both ordered this sandwich. Every bite was flavorful: each bite included a little bit of each ingredient. Fries are thin and crispy. Hot Beef: As a rule, I order something I'm not going to make at home, and I don't have the patience for cooking pot roast pkus making gravy and mashed potatoes for lunch. Tender, delicious beef. Chunky skin-on mashed potatoes with flavor bursts (that's what I convinced my kid the lumps are), and corn. Cuz who doesn't mix the corn in with the beef and gravy? My only complaint? The gravy was hella salty--not sure if that's worth docking them a star but I was leaning towards 4.5. The men were in a rush so no dessert for me. Too bad cuz the peach cobbler...
