I want to like this place as itās location is great but Iāve probably been here about 10 times in the 4-5 years theyāve been in business and generally go away a bit underwhelmed.
I tend to get ground beef in my Mexican food and Iām not sure if they use a filler product mixed in or if some of the ground beef isnāt done, but there is usually some small red meat-like stuff mixed in with the ground beef (it has the appearance of uncooked ground beef but just not sure if it is). Today isnāt the first time thatās been thereā¦Iāve seen it mixed in other times Iāve been there. Their ground beef also has a different taste compared to other Mexican restaurants (might be a lower qualityā¦just not sure).
The salsa is watered downā¦I know some folks like that but not me. The chips are usually good.
I stopped in today which is a Sunday at 11:15 and there was one other table there and nobody stopped back to check on me after they brought the food out. Also didnāt get a refill. I could hear the workers laughing/talking in the back which gives an obvious impression they donāt care to pay attention to their customers.
On top of that they charge close to 4% to use a credit card. Thatās a little high.
The atmosphere inside is goodā¦I question the food quality and certainly wasnāt impressed with the service today.
Needless to say, todayās experience doesnāt tell me Iāll be back...
Ā Ā Ā Read morei hate leaving bad reviews, especially for places that i really thought would be good. But you gotta do it sometimes i guess. i popped in here for the first time a couple days ago at around noon and ordered a street style burrito with carne asada to go ($14.00 + tax). it took them pretty long to have it ready for me but i didnāt mind and the server was apologetic and very nice about it. the burrito looked real good, but unfortunately it was the blandest burrito iāve had the displeasure to taste. absolutely no seasoning whatsoever. the salsa included was alright but it was barely enough to salvage the saddest burrito in iowa. based off the reviews i was expecting authentic mexican food but sadly taco bell has this place beat in the burrito department š Ć©chenle...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreToday my wife and I saw Rancho Chico while we were out and about. It was dinner time so I quickly looked up the restaurant on Google and saw that it had a very good rating so we tried it. We walked in and were instantly greeted and seated. The restaurant isn't big but has a lot of charm. Everything on the menu looked delicious but we decided on fajitas. When they were brought out they were not only sizzling but looked great too. They came with beans and rice ect. My wife took one bite, looked at me and said " Oh my God, this is delicious". Normally she doesn't eat rice and beans but these were to good to waste. We finished everything. We will absolutely go back Rancho Chico very soon. Maybe...
