I want to like this place as it’s location is great but I’ve probably been here about 10 times in the 4-5 years they’ve been in business and generally go away a bit underwhelmed.

I tend to get ground beef in my Mexican food and I’m not sure if they use a filler product mixed in or if some of the ground beef isn’t done, but there is usually some small red meat-like stuff mixed in with the ground beef (it has the appearance of uncooked ground beef but just not sure if it is). Today isn’t the first time that’s been there…I’ve seen it mixed in other times I’ve been there. Their ground beef also has a different taste compared to other Mexican restaurants (might be a lower quality…just not sure).

The salsa is watered down…I know some folks like that but not me. The chips are usually good.

I stopped in today which is a Sunday at 11:15 and there was one other table there and nobody stopped back to check on me after they brought the food out. Also didn’t get a refill. I could hear the workers laughing/talking in the back which gives an obvious impression they don’t care to pay attention to their customers.

On top of that they charge close to 4% to use a credit card. That’s a little high.

The atmosphere inside is good…I question the food quality and certainly wasn’t impressed with the service today.

Needless to say, today’s experience doesn’t tell me I’ll be back...

i hate leaving bad reviews, especially for places that i really thought would be good. But you gotta do it sometimes i guess. i popped in here for the first time a couple days ago at around noon and ordered a street style burrito with carne asada to go ($14.00 + tax). it took them pretty long to have it ready for me but i didn’t mind and the server was apologetic and very nice about it. the burrito looked real good, but unfortunately it was the blandest burrito i’ve had the displeasure to taste. absolutely no seasoning whatsoever. the salsa included was alright but it was barely enough to salvage the saddest burrito in iowa. based off the reviews i was expecting authentic mexican food but sadly taco bell has this place beat in the burrito department šŸ˜” Ć©chenle...

Today my wife and I saw Rancho Chico while we were out and about. It was dinner time so I quickly looked up the restaurant on Google and saw that it had a very good rating so we tried it. We walked in and were instantly greeted and seated. The restaurant isn't big but has a lot of charm. Everything on the menu looked delicious but we decided on fajitas. When they were brought out they were not only sizzling but looked great too. They came with beans and rice ect. My wife took one bite, looked at me and said " Oh my God, this is delicious". Normally she doesn't eat rice and beans but these were to good to waste. We finished everything. We will absolutely go back Rancho Chico very soon. Maybe...

Iwas hungry and I said let's try this Mexican spot to go. Maybe nine people were eating, nothing looked inviting. Sat there reading the menu no one approached to ask did I want to order, only after I sat the menu down and started looking around. The place wasn't but snap big. Ordered 3 tacos and a margarita šŸ¹ to go. Get to my destination which is only 5min away. Opened the bag the side of salsa all over the bag the 🌮 disintegrated in my hand a mushy mess on top of that no plastic ware or napkins. On the plus side, drink was excellent and it came with a wrapped straw.

Not recommended. I ordered take out Saturday. Even tho I specifically asked for silverware I was told it was in the bag. When I got to the spot I looked in the bag for my silverware and found chips. There was no silverware included so I was left using chips. To top it off the food was luke warm and tasteless. After struggling for a moment to use the chips to eat with I just decided to forego the meal and disposed of jt. ****note to self**** bring silverware when ordering to go from this restaurant!

We are from out of town. We did lots of research to settle on a Mexican restaurant for the night's meal. Rancho Chico did not disappoint in the way of food. It was delicious!! However, between the packed, noisy restaurant, and the obnoxious kids sitting next to us, and the mariachi music over all of it, it was *not* relaxing at all. I couldn't get out fast enough. Just not my kind of atmosphere. But the food really was fantastic. 🤩
