Wanted to try this place out because they were selling cake bowls from CAKE DADDY (which we LOVE). When we first arrived plenty of ppl waiting in line (which no big deal right?) got to the front of the line fairly quickly. Ordered told “30 minute wait time” for our order. (Okay not bad went to wait in the car) we waited for AN HOUR. Had to go in and check and stood inside for another 10 minutes the our order was up FINALLY after keeping track of who was ahead of us. Left hopeful. Got home and opened up our food very underwhelmed and they forgot the hush puppies we ordered which I was not happy about cause I really wanted to try them. I really wanted it to be good. The fries were weak and greasy (and some undercooked), and it wasn’t even full catfish pieces in one of the boxes. Some of the catfish nuggets towards the end (cause they weren’t full pieces) tasted slightly undercooked as well. We have an air fryer so it wasn’t too big of a deal. I appreciate the staff cause they were doing the best they could and ppl were getting angry at them. They were friendly and not disrespectful to anyone. I don’t think I will go again, but if I do I’ll call in my order EARLY and pick up. At some point they started turning walk-ins away cause they couldn’t keep up (or I heard one lady say one of their fryers broke?) and that was making customers very angry. Apparently this was the 3rd time for one lady that showed up and they tried to turn her away she started bargaining at the window and the gentleman gave her 25% off ( She ordered what they had available. Even after they were turning away other customers.)

Update: I'll let the owners of The Best Thing Flopping address the false charge of serving swai. My husband and I go way back to the days when there was only location on Kiest. The spicy here is good, but it isn't as spicy as I remember. And the pieces and the size of the pieces sure aren't what we remember what they're calling filets are a ripoff. We ordered a 7 piece filet and got what amounted to a 7 piece nuggets! The picture shows one of the larger pieces. Not sure what's going on with the fries. Looked like some type of flour batter but no seasoning at all and the fries used to be seasoned as good as the fish. We paid $30+!! They also failed to call us when it was ready as promised, my husband went inside and saw it on the counter. Was so glad for the closer location, but unless I hear they're giving more for my money we won't be going back to this one. Check out the Best Thing Flopping off 35 on Ovilla Rd in Red Oak to see what a real filet looks like their strips are larger than the filets here and they have catfish steaks and tails!

I ordered online and did pick up. Lady had a very friendly greeting that made me smile! 🤰🏻💜 I saw a $8 lunch special for 6pc catfish nuggets and I placed two orders of it- one spicy, one non spicy. I didn’t know it also came with fries but I added a large order of fries with it. Which I do not regret bc those fries (along with the catfish) was BOMB DIGGITY. A fried food joint has my heart and currently preggo belly if they have amazing fries; theirs is fresh hand cut and the seasoning is perfect for my taste! The fried catfish nugget lunch special came with side of bread, pickles, pickled Jalapeno, fries, and two sauces. I devoured it all- the catfish has that delectable cornmeal crunch and bold flavor and I don’t usually care for dipping sauce but it was delicious, I used it all. Is it tartar or some Cajun remoulade, I don’t know but it’s amazing. Now I have to come back to try their catfish fillets and fried oysters and curious if they make their own boudin balls - guess I’ll have to find out!

I always love the food here, but the customer service sucked this time around. I placed an online order at 4:15 PM to be picked up at 4:45 PM. I arrived at 4:47 PM and was told it would be 5 more minutes. No big deal. I was gracious and waited 20 minutes (15 minutes longer than I should have) before asking about my order again, to which the young lady replied that they were boxing my order. By this point there were 6 other people waiting in the lobby, one of which was there before me. As I continued to wait, they informed a gentian who came in after me that they were out of crab cakes (I also ordered a crab cake) and that he could pick something else. I figured I would be getting the last one. After waiting another 15 minutes, the name on my order was called, and I was handed a large foil pan and a loaf of bread. That was NOT my order. Not only was it not my order, they had no idea whose order it was because there was no name on it. A gentleman who I assume is the manager comes in and starts assssing the situation and tells me that they’re boxing my order up, another TWENTY minutes after the young lady told me they were doing it. At this point, it almost and hour after my order was due to be ready. I finally get my food and check my order in the car, not at all surprised to see my crab cake is missing from my order. My fiancé was rightfully frustrated at this point and goes inside to get a refund because all we want is to just go home and eat after waiting so long for food that should’ve been ready. I informed him they were out before he went in due to what was told to the other gentleman inside. Lo and behold, THEY HAVE CRAB CAKES. They deny my fiancé’s request for a refund and “hurriedly” make the crab cake. While he’s waiting, another lady also tells him the same thing I told him, that they told the man they were out of crab cakes. We did not leave until 5:54 PM, a whole HOUR and TEN minutes AFTER our order that was ordered at 4:15 was supposed to be ready. Never again. There’s not enough good food in a world to make me put up with poor customer...
