We gave this place two good try’s. First try was Jan 24th, we ordered one of the slider appetizers and asked how many sliders were on it which she said “3”. When the appetizer arrived there were only two, when asked the person said “we changed it due to the cost of the meats” completely get that but the staff need to be aware of the changes. The app was great but if there’s 3 people and only two things come out that causes a problem. Luckily there were only two of us. After the appetizer came and we finished it we sat for another 50 minutes before our pizza and sandwich came out. Both were great but 50 minutes can feel like forever without communication from the staff. I have no problem waiting if the server continues to be in contact.
Visit two was Feb 2nd: We ordered an appetizer (one of the knots) a Da Beef and a pizza. Everything was ordered within 5 minutes of each other, app then main dishes. Appetizer came and was decent but could use a little more flavor, maybe garlic butter in the knots. The pizza came about 30 minutes for two of us and the server was asked some question about the pizza because it was the somewhat stuffed which was different for us. We waited a minute for the sandwich to come for the third person but then we started eating the pizza when the sandwich was taking a bit. We ate 2 pieces of pizza each, still no pizza. The restaurant closed in 14 minutes so I walked up to the counter and someone came out and I informed them we were still waiting for a sandwich and I was told “we are working on it right now”. If they informed me they didn’t start it yet I would have told them to forget about it ask the person who ordered it was over it already. The server came out nine minutes later and said “sorry it was never put in” after he looked at the computer he said “oh that’s why, I never asked you what kind of dressing you want for your salad” she answered ranch. At about 7 (closing time) the sandwich and salad came out, the server stated “they put the ranch on the side because they didn’t know how much you wanted” but in all reality they made it with vinaigrette dressing and just sent the ranch when the mistake was noticed. The food was good but the service has been horrendous. I honestly hope the best for this place but we don’t want to walk out of a nice dinner upset, annoyed and feeling like our...
Read moreLet's start with the people. It's a legit family run business. Pops slinging some killer dough. Melissa is holding down the front house and many other things. They got the kids dishing out quality food everytime.
Now on to the food. We are a little bit spolied with good pizza being so close to Chicago and a lot of great pizza in town. I'd say just in Crown Point, we have four spots that absolutely kill. My top two are this location and tomato bar. They both have a very good dough that sets them apart with Battistas using the highest quality ingredients. Quality in ingredients comes through on every dish I've tried. Pizza, Alfredo, various breads, hell the sandwich are unreal. I've never been to Italy but this place teleports you with the food and atmosphere.
The atmosphere is very cool. Inside a old building, entrance on the alleyside has you wondering what you are about to walk into. It has a beautiful bar area with some awesome colored walls coming off that bar. They have enough seating to sit a very large party with a little notice. They also have a little grocery store in the back with some deli meats and various other items that use in the kitchen for sale.
I'm writing this two days after eating there with my family because I'm hungry and want more of it. I told my boys this is the best pizza in the state, and they corrected me by saying it's the best...
Read moreDo not let the around the corner, down the stairs, location throw you off. When we entered I thought, "Where is everyone? It must not be good." Even my wife gave that look. Guys, you know, the "where did you bring us" look? By the time we were done, she was telling me "well, we have a new pizza place for every order!" The meats are home made or hand picked. Bacon is not "bacon" like you may think, you have to try it and ask about it. I don't want to let the story out. Delicious. The sausage is made there. The cheeses are like they brought them from a small farm today. I have not had anything like this for a long time. I had once before, but one pizza at another place, 10 yrs ago was over $40, not here. My wife and I each had a small pizza and an appetizer and of course our drinks. We could not finish anything. Our bill was only $68. Trust me, this place is a secret gem in Crown Point. Try it and find out. Thank me later. Parking is a bit tricky. Don't just follow a map there. Go to the square and drive to find a spot. Then walk a little if needed. It is 1/2 blk south of Cul. Misfit. The end of the brick building, the first door along...
