Yesterday 5/27 the lake county 911 dispatchers ordered about $70 worth of food as we always do since we've always liked this place. The lady who took our order admitted to forgetting our sour cream, which every order had asked for one and some even asked for extra and we did not get a single one. We called them to tell them of the error and they said we were pretty much out of luck that they would not be bringing us any back. They offered 2 give us 2 complimentary shakes (mind you about 5 people ordered) we said sorry that would not work for us because now all of us who had to work till 3am were out of food and had to spend more money somewhere else (yes, I understand its just sour cream but really who likes plain pierogies?) My co worker spoke with the OWNER today (5/28) and told him of our discern. He said he would not refund us, but give us credit for sour cream. We said no thank you we were out $70 worth of food. We advised him we would no longer be doing business with us and he said "that's fine we always have to wait on you guys anyway" and hung up on my co worker. Yes, I do admit they do have to wait on us, but we are also very busy with 911 calls and cant not just answer someones 911 call. Overall VERY rude and poor customer service and they definitely just lost our business and we will be spreading the word around
EDITED DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO REPLY TO OWNERS RESPONSE
Your employee admitted she was at fault for not putting the condiments in the bag. While you do not prefer sour cream, we do, so what you prefer is irrelevant to us.
I know you dont work up here with us to understand how and when we can go, but yes, it is sometimes impossible to get away if phones are ringing off the hook and if its a dispatchers food they have to find someone to cover their desk which is not always easy. The time your driver had to wait for 45 min I personally called and apologized for that happening because we were never even informed our food was here or else we would have been down a lot sooner. I cannot speak for other people who do not tip, but I know that i do.
You state they are afraid to bring us our food, but yet, we have no contact with the public, delivering other people's food to homes or other businesses was putting yourself more at risk then it was with us.
When my co worker spoke with you she never laughed at you. I heard the conversation, so please do not speak that lie. Why did you blatantly hang up on my co worker sir?
You offered $10 and 2 shakes when there was 5 people total who ordered food. So how do you justify who gets what to make up for YOUR mistake?
Like I said in my previous statement, you will no longer be getting business from us and its a shame because we really liked you guys until the horrible...
Read moreOrdered online yesterday (8-6-24) for delivery with an estimated time of 30 minutes for arrival. Once sale was completed, immediately received a phone call from restaurant that they were completely full at the restaurant and that only 1 server and 1 cook were working so they couldn't do delivery and asked if I could come pick it up. I asked how long it would be and was told an hour to an hour and a half; or I could cancel and get a refund in a week or so. I decided to pick it up and arrived an hour and 10 minutes after placing the order. The restaurant was basically empty minus the 4 top that was seated when I walked in and the party of 3 that was sat just after. When I told the girl the name for the order she mentioned they had a new system and to give her a few minutes... she walked to the cook and asked if the order had been started. He said no, pointed to it on the firing line, and that he had been doing the other orders of the people that had been coming in and hadn't gotten around to mine yet. Mind you it's an open kitchen so conversations are fully heard. She then came back and said there were still a couple items being finished and it would be ready. While sitting and watching them make and complete other orders that came in after mine and hearing them say they were out of sour cream, printer paper for receipts, forks, certain other food items and why they only had two people working they finally started working on mine after another employee finally came in and made the comment that mine was listed for delivery at 630 (it was 8pm at that point). The cook then came to me and said "today has just been one thing after another, we don't have the cheese to make the item you ordered but could use something else. Almost 2 hours after ordering I was leaving with my purchase. (But they still had the delivery tip I had put on the order, not even offered a glass of water while I waited) It's interesting to me that just a couple months ago this place was posting begging for people to come in, but cannot seem to function properly. If you cannot adequately serve the clientele, then close for the night. If you can't regularly offer delivery services as advertised, then don't offer it at all. If you run out of certain ingredients that are easily obtainable from GFS or the standard grocery store then management/owners should make sure they have it. Moreover, you do orders as they come in regardless of if it is delivery/pick up or in store customers. The food is decent, but nothing out of this world that would ever make me look past this experience. I personally will not be returning and if asked about the restaurant will make sure to relay my experience so people know what to...
Read moreJax's Crown Town Grill in Crown Point really is the most endearing family restaurant. Their quaint and historical vibe are so cool... Truly a hidden gem on the Square.
The owners go all out decorating for holidays and they really do a good job of promoting family experiences year round.
The menu is fantastic. There's something for everyone. They even serve traditional polish recipes that include soft pretzels and homemade pierogies.
A very cool feature: The back of the restaurant is decorated like a drive-in movie theater (modeled after the Hollywood studios sci-fi drive-in at Disney world) and there is a giant movie screen with a large family-friendly selection. The room is absolutely adorable and so much fun.
After numerous visits to this establishment, we noticed a party in the drive-in movie theater room and I inquired about renting the space. The owner was responsive, friendly, helpful, and genuinely seemed to share in the enthusiasm of planning my daughter's 11th birthday party.
The prices were beyond reasonable and the menu options were plentiful. Planning the party could not have been easier thanks to the help of the restaurant team.
On the day of the party we were welcomed with smiles and everything was set to go and ready on time. The two employees that were working our event were fast, friendly, efficient, and attentive. They paid attention to every detail and made the whole day absolutely perfect. They looked like they truly enjoyed their jobs and we even saw them signing along with the movie soundtrack, interacting with our guests, and smiling while they worked.
When I realized I forgot birthday candles, they even offered to go to the store and buy some for us. I insisted that wasn't necessary and that we could do without but they still ended up going out of their way to visit other establishments on the square in search of candles for my daughter's cake. And they came through.
The party was a hit. The food was delicious. The service was excellent. Everyone had a great time. All of our guests noticed and commented on the fun atmosphere, the quality of the recipes, the welcoming and hard working staff, and the overall joyful experience.
Jax's really went out of their way to make our party easy, affordable, memorable, and fun. I have so much gratitude for the owner's dedication to serving the families of this community.
If you haven't visited Jax's yet, go. If you've been there before, go again. This small business, his the mark big time.
10 out of 10 stars......
