PLEASE BE CAREFUL WITH WHAT YOU ORDER
Ok so I was waiting to see what kind of reply I would get from the email I sent the manager, so he can see what I received. I’m not the type to leave this type of review but this was bad. I was walking past this place and didn’t notice the location at first what I noticed was the smell. It smelled like Latin food and I was starving. I walked in and was greeted by a very kind young lady who was very patient with me since the menu had so many different things. I ordered a order of tacos de pastor, arroz con gandules, ceviche, sopa, plátano maduro and a mineral water. I was very hungry as you can see. Well I waited not to long and received my food. I asked for utensils since the order was to go and they said they don’t have utensils to go. I went across the street got a spoon for my soup and got in my car. The first thing I grabbed to open was the tacos. As you can see in the picture below the tacos were just thrown in the bag. I just brushed it off and thought to myself, your hungry just eat. The tortillas were cold but I will say the meat had a good flavor. I then went to the soup, I didn’t take a picture of the soup because it was just a green thick soup, nothing to complain or be excited for. Then I went to the maduros... this is where life decided to kick me in my gut. I grabbed one and they were sticking to each other... I tasted it and they tasted like pure oil. I didn’t finish the soup because I wanted to try all the things I bought. At this point I was drinking the mineral water, which tasted good, and opened he ceviche. I seen the ceviche and knew this was a South American style ceviche, which I’ve tried before. As I took a bite, the taste of onion overpowered it so much I couldn’t eat it. I tried picking at the fish to see maybe if it tasted better but only tasted of onion no other taste came through. Another swing of the water and moved on to the arroz... this I thought was the end all be all. I opened the container and seen the arroz was off, I dipped my spoon in and tasted it. The arroz was SO underwhelming, it was mooshy and the taste of celery stuck out (yes celery) I like celery but it overwhelmed the rice. It tasted so bad I didn’t finish that either. I put everything back in the bag and took another drink of the water. That’s when I noticed that white ring along the neck of the bottle. At this point o was furious and called the restaurant to return the food. The young lady answered and recognized me and said she was sorry and she will call the manager. She then told me that he was in a meeting and would call me back. I drove home, which was 40 min away. I later got a call asking me what went wrong, I explained all what I wrote above to him. He what resolution was I looking for. I said a refund, he said their policy states they are not responsible for takeout orders. This got me upset and I said this food was priced high and I expected the same in quality and service and it is not living up to it. He apologized and said he would get me a round of drinks on my next visit. I explained what happened with my water in which he chuckled and stated he has been drinking San Benedetto for a very long time and the only thing that sometimes happens is around the cap there will be a mark. I just stopped complaining to him at this point because I realized this wasn’t going anywhere and asked him if I could send him a email of the food with pictures. He said yes that was fine but that he had already discussed this with me. I explained that way he can see I was not lying and he can talk to his cooks. This happened 5/14, they have not emailed me back. He referred me to his reviews where he stated that they speak for themselves. I did tell him that I seen this and I understand that other people had a different experience but this was mine. So to sum this all up, this place was overpriced and the food was not worth it. I think what you pay for is the environment, the place is very nice inside and the music is inviting, other than that it fell very short. I spent $50...

Guacamole... I hate all Guacamole, but my family says the guacamole here was amazing. So I'll go with them on it.
Chips and salsa. Chips were good, but salsa was bland. The only difference was the smoky taste from one red to another. In my opinion... not worth the order. Your local taco joint has better chips and salsa.
Now, onto the meals. My youngest son had the tamales. ABSOLUTELY GARBAGE!! EVERYONE AT THE TABLE SPIT IT OUT. 100% trash for the ridiculous price of 2 TAMALES....2 TAMALES!!!! YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF WHAT YOU PUT OUT FOR FOOD THERE.
I had the 1/2lb pork carnitas... I was served a 1/2lb of burnt ends and a slab of fat with 2 tortillas. I was able to make 1 taco of the mess that was in the bowl, and even at that, it was barely ok. Flavor was nowhere to be found, and meat that was able to be picked through was tough. I tried covering it in the smorgasbord of toppings provided, but that didn't even work. It's just a taco of rough meat and fat. Taco Bell has done a better taco at this point.
Steak carnitas were pretty good. Good flavor, and the meat was tendor. No real complaints, other than not enough shells were provided from the start. 1lb of meat and 4 shells really doesn't make any sense at all.
Octopus was actually pretty good. It's not tough at alltender. Flavor and texture. Would definitely order it again.
My oldest had the steak tacos. He definitely wasn't impressed and barely ate 1 of the 3 and said he'd rather eat chicken nuggets at home and left his plate. Steak tacos are one of his favorite meals, btw and he couldn't finish one
All in all, the staff were incredible and very polite and gracious. Our server went above and beyond with getting us a table to have drinks before our actual table was ready. The food, on the other hand, was far from the price point on the menu. I myself will definitely never go out of my way to stop here. You're not a Michelin Star restaurant. Please stop acting like it. You're in Crown Point. All in all, the drinks were above average, but the food definitely fell below the bar for what this place asks in price. In my opinion, stop over at Square Roots or Culinary Misfits and spend waaaay less money for actually decent food. Provecho has definitely not lived up to the hype that it was given. The fancy ambiance and settings do not live up to the food that is served. Was glad to try it out, but our family will definitely pass again on this overpriced excuse for...
Read moreI went here for the first time last night. We had a reservation and I had actually contacted them beforehand worried about a food allergy I had. We showed up to be greeted with an option for communal dining or more of the typical dining on the other side by the bar. The chef was visible through one side of the restaurant, which was really neat. The whole experience was wonderful. We had an awesome server, and the host even came by right away to discuss my food allergy, which I didn’t realize they had noted next to our reservation. He told the chef about it, and it made me feel really valued as a customer. We tried a bunch of the small plates together, which came out almost immediately. All of it was so delicious! Surprisingly we thought the soup was the best part, hah. There wasn’t a food item we disliked honestly. Plus we got to sample mixed drinks from their tap. Our server was very passionate about the restaurant, which made our dining experience even better. He even told us about how the whole crew sits down together every day before they open. It seems like a very cohesive family that works together, which always creates a better business. He also took time to explain to us that some of the entrees can take longer to get to the table, but it’s all made fresh with local product and lots of love. They have a great set up though with the small plates being fast while you await the entrees. This isn’t Applebee’s, so I’m not looking for a quick eat and go. It’s an experience you’re paying for here, and it’s all entirely worth it. Even the lighting in the building is great. My husband is an electrician and we were both commenting on how cool the electrical piping is and the lighting chosen provides a spotlight for each table, but also mood lighting for a more intimate dining experience in all the other locations. Very impressed to say the least! I can’t wait to go back and try more of their delicious food. This place is a great addition to Crown Point’s downtown! They made our anniversary...
