Very pretty and has a good amount of seating, but coffees and pastries were just ok. They definitely need to rethink function here. When we walked in, a crowd was standing in front of what I'll call "the bar." After we found the line, in a very narrow, very HOT hallway (steaming-eyeglasses hot) we saw that the person taking orders was closer to the hallway, not all the way back by the entrance. Yet all those standing in front of the bar, waiting for ???, were blocking some of the goods for sale. We moved a little, then while we stood in the same place for about 10 minutes, I noticed a woman at the far end of the bar (near the entrance) who was waiting for that whole 10 minutes--seemed to be waiting for her order. We finally got to order, were told they were out of chai, also out of oat milk (it's 10:45 a.m.--bad planning if you didn't get oat milk for another day of business). The menu had MANY drink options crossed out (maybe go with a smaller menu until the staff gets comfortable?). And it honestly took nearly 10 minutes to get change after paying with cash--that I truly don't understand. We walked to the end of the bar, now able to see some items we might have tried, and retrieved our drinks--ready after our long wait for...change.🙄 Again, staff was very attentive, especially the young lady assigned to the patio. But maybe they need to cut back on ambition, start with a more manageable menu of items they have available, and rethink...
Read moreOle Crown Point sure is getting bougie. (Welcome to Illinois 😂)...a lot pricier for sure but I went back for a visit and came here. This is a cute place, unfortunately too hot to sit inside for long. Little or no air conditioning on a hot day was not comfortable. Coffee was just okay. Took a while just to get a SIMPLE cup of Joe, nothing fancy as I wanted to taste the coffee itself and I was the only one waiting with 3 people behind the counter but they couldn't grasp the concept that I wanted iced coffee with actual coffee, not 99% ice and 1 % coffee. We noticed they charge an extra dollar to drink the coffee out of their cup. Sitting fee? Lol. It was just a dollar but still and they don't have servers there. Not sure what that is all about but we noticed extra little charges on the receipt. If you want pastries you have to get there super early in the morning. And I did and I got one and it was very very good. I purchased the almond croissant. I didn't try anything else other than that and the coffee. Will I be back? There's too many other coffee places to choose from. And the parking lot was filled but just a few people inside so yes, tight parking. It's not convenient. I hope they take peoples comments into consideration after reading others reviews. I hope for their sake it's not one of those places that put all the money into the atmosphere and not into the quality of the product. It won't last long if...
Read moreThe ambiance is beautiful and the owners were incredibly kind and welcoming. However, I’ve had 3 separate situations that just seem unreasonable. Charging $1 for skim milk in a coffee (not a milk alternative listed by the way), charging for CREAM in a coffee-because for some reason they don’t keep it out for self-service, charging $1 for “light ice” in an iced coffee…highly unusual and quite frankly pretty ridiculous. Never in my life have I had to pay additional fees for cream/regular milk. I also find it very strange to not have any sugar-feee options (sugar-free vanilla latter for example)…you’re missing a huge population of people here.
I’m hoping these are all just oversights for being a new business-but I highly recommended adjusting for these things, because honestly, I don’t think I’ll come back after those experiences. Again, absolutely stunning place to meet friends, etc, but hard to want to do so there, and not another coffee shop when all these other...
