My wife and I gave the place a shot last night. we are very critical on trying new restaurants in the square simply because weāre very critical on trying new restaurants in the square simply because they have all been EXPENSIVE disappointments. We are both big house of Kobe sushi lovers but, the commute from where we live makes it an hour drive roundtrip. Sakura is 2 minutes driving distance from our home. We walked in around 9:00pm and was immediately sat down at a both. I excused myself from the table to use the restroom and was really impressed on the cleanliness of the mens bathroom. Very modern look. Automatic soap dispenser, paper towels, and air dryer. Toilet and floor were dang near spotless. Our appetizer of edamame was excellent, fresh and crisp. My wife had the soup and she loved it. Our sushi dinner finally arrived 4 rolls total 3 dragon, 1 other roll I can't remember the name of. Moment of truth/ we both took a bite and watched each other's reactions. We both gave a shoulder shrug and said "not bad". not great but good enough. We finished our 3 rolls and took on home. Well around 2:00 am my stomach started hurting so bad it woke me up and immediately ran to the toilet. As I sat there on the toilet I was thinking " hmm maybe I caught a bug because my wife isn't having any issue." 2 minutes later my wife was at the door needing to get on the toilet. So no doubt in our minds we were served some bad old, not fresh sushi.Oh well we tried! I do not recommend ! We can't be up all night on the toilets we got kids to raise
.Owner messaged me on Facebook saying I didnāt get diarrhea from his sush restaurant...i assured him my wife and I were both up at 2:00 am on the toilet .He didnāt like that. We decided to try Sakura. And we are so glad we did! Everyone from the moment we walked in was so friendly and pleasant. The atmosphere is wonderful and tastefully decorated. The little one had lots of fun looking at the decorations.
She asked for a Japanese soda, which is in a glass jar that you pop a glass marble top into. If your kid is ever on YouTube, they've probably seen these. Unfortunately, they were out of strawberry, but she chose blueberry instead.
The menu is extensive, everything sounded good, and it was hard to choose. We ordered the gyzoa (dumplings) to start. The little one loved it! She used her set of chopsticks to eat instead of the provided fork. (parenting pro tip: don't break the wooden ones apart; just show them how to spread them. The chopsticks are then more like a practice set). They were delicious. Nice and crisp on the outside and the filling was very tasty.
Knowing I would need to take some leftovers home to share later, I ordered both the sushi and sashimi lunch and the pick 3 roll lunch. Both came with a choice of miso soup or salad. We got the miso soup. The next time I order it, I might ask for some chili sauce.
The sushi and sashimi were delicious. And the presentation was gorgeous. I used the gyoza sauce that came with the dumplings for my dipping sauce instead of soy sauce. There were generous servings of wasabi and pickled ginger, too.
The pick 3 rolls were great. We picked shrimp, Hollywood, and tuna rolls. They were divided into 6 pieces each and it enough for 2 people to share.
We had a wonderful time. The waitresses were so kind and attentive. When we had finished and were waiting for the check, ours brought out a strawberry mochi for little miss since they didn't have the strawberry soda. It was very kind.
We'll definitely be back for lunches...

Itās not cooked other than when they turn it into sushi rice itās boiled and itās made into a little square. Itās not crispy. Itās not fried. Itās not what the mold it. They just put the tuna on top of it, there was no crispy And it tasted horrible. The tuna horrible thereās salmon avocado roll. The fish is so fishy smelling, and Didnāt taste fresh I was so excited to try them. It was horrible even their deep fried roll. You could tell the fish was bad and nothing had any good flavor their rice that they use for their sushi is horrible. The fish is not fresh and how in the world do you not fry crispy rice the rice was just like I said Sushi rice formed into a little square But not deep fried not fried not anything. I was so hoping this place was gonna be good. I wish I had not spent the amount of money that I spent save your money. Go to Umi go to Wu House If those two are out of your budget, go DoorDash or Ubereats an order from Den Asian Bistro and have it delivered from there. They at least have good sushi and crispy rice. They do fry their rice. I cannot recommend Koi sushi. I was so excited to try it And you would think for being new they would at least put in an effort to be good at least at the beginning, but no First, I thought OK Iāll try again. Maybe it was just a bad night but no all of it was bad and how do you not fry the rice for crispy rice donāt go here save your money go...
