Umi Sushi All You Can Eat — Restaurant in Chambersburg

Went to Umi to compare with Sushi Bomb in Hagerstown. Not expecting world class sushi, just the ability to try some different stuff without worrying if I got the right roll or not... Compared to Sushi Bomb the menu was MUCH smaller. Many fewer options but that was not of complete concern. We were seated quickly in a dining room with ample space. Myself and my daughter got the AYCE Sushi while my wife ordered hibachi chicken off the menu. The waitress took drunk orders and brought our drinks back relatively quickly. She then took our first round of Sushi orders and my wife's order for hibachi chicken. Our first order of Sushi came out relatively quickly. My wife sat and bargained with us until we decided to go ahead and eat while our food was still fresh. We ate our entire first plates and placed a secobd order when our waitress FINALLY made it back to our table. Second plates of Sushi came and wife still had no dinner. Multiple times piles of plates were dropped shocking the dining room. Sushi was good. Service was TERRIBLE. We do not intend to return. Will go to Sushi Bomb. Really wanted this experience to be solid as we like to go to Chambersburg instead of Hagerstown for dinner, but in this case, we will head down to Hagerstown. Annoyingly loud music with flashing cartoons on the widescreen. They don’t send you the food you actually ordered. When I kindly asked them to remake something, they again sent something not as described on the menu. Nigiri and Jasmine tea were above par for AYCE. Too bad they only allow each customer to order one of the raw sushi appetizers to be inclusive of the AYCE , which is unlike ANY other local AYCE sushi restaurants which I’ve visited. The chef’s openly seemed to take our complaints about the FOOD out on the server. I want this establishment to get one thing straight, our service was impeccable, friendly, gracious, knowledgable and timely - which is why the chef’s mistakes weren’t reflected in her tip - and I do NOT appreciate witnessing a young lady being treated like that. You gotta try this place! The atmosphere is great, our server was lovely, and the sushi was phenomenal. Once more people learn of Umi, there will be lines around the block. I would definitely suggest getting the all-you-can-eat option. I ended up getting four rolls and two appetizers - I would've spent exponentially more going anywhere else for all that food! This is a place that sincerely appreciates your business - and they deserve it. The guy that answered the phone, CiCi (spelling), was an awesome, genuine dude who also helps prepares the food - had me excited about coming in before we even officially decided to go there. I highly recommend the HXH Roll, the Dynamite Roll, and the Snow White Roll. The HXH Roll was an experience... it was AMAZING! I live about an hour from here, but I will most definitely take a trip back...
