Let me first express and state that I have traveled extensively, across the United States, since I was a child. I have stayed in literal dumps, with bugs all the way to 4 & 5 star hotels. ||||In ALL these 100's of travels, especially in the poorest of conditions, I have never experienced such a Rude, Condescending, Arrogant, incorrigible and Unprofessional staff, as I did, in the lobby's reception area, of Red Roof Inn, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. ||||This man should be fired and never allowed to work again in hospitality. ||||He was lounging, in a chair, on his cell phone, in the lobby and appeared as a regular person, instead of the receptionist. He only got up to move towards the check-in area, after I entered. ||||I arrived without booking. Inquired of vacancy. He said that they have but it's on the 2nd floor and they don't have an elevator. ||||His phone rings, and before I could respond, he takes the call. He never said, "Excuse me" or "One moment, please." He just cut me off, as I was about to speak. ||||I waited. Once he finished, I asked if everyone had checked in, or if anyone had cancelled. He didn't bother looking at the registry. He didn't even bother to move behind the desk, but stood at the far corner. ||||I then politely asked, "What kind of business doesn't provide accommodations for all people?" (Let me be clear, I use a powerchair) He asked me what I said and I repeated. ||||His reply was completely unprofessional. He barely allowed me to finish my sentence when he rudely said, "What do you not understand? The first floor is occupied and we do not have an elevator! Do you want me to kick them all out so that you can have a room?" ||||I was completely taken aback and just in shock that a hotel would have such people working for them! So disrespectful and such a condescending thing to say to anyone! ||||I replied, "Of course not! I never once implied that." I said that I just simply asked what kind of business doesn't accommodate for all people. ||||He responded with, "The owners will be here at 9:00pm. You can wait and ask them." The last thing he said was, " Go to Days Inn, if you want elevator." ||||To myself, I thought... yeah thanks that's just what I am looking for to sleep in...an elevator. BUT I didn't say anything even though I wanted to. ||||I pray that the owner sees this. This staff members' remarks and actions were completely unacceptable and unprofessional. He should be fired and the hotel owners should be sued for discrimination! ||||If you are disabled, .. if you have a special need... if you are expecting common courtesy... if you need or desire specific accommodating features or to simply be treated like a human... Don't stay here! You have...
Read moreThis is the third time I’ve stayed at this hotel as I am a traveling healthcare worker. The first 2 stays were fine even though the first morning I saw a rat outside in the street. I was like okay not in hotel I should be good. The are a LOT of long term people who actually live at this hotel. And a lot of noise in the evening. They congregate in one room and play music loud. ||||Well my 3rd stay I get to the hotel get checked in go to my room and there are roaches crawling down the wall in the bathroom I immediately turned around and went to the front desk. They tried to put me in another room but as a single women there was no way I would have gotten a good nights sleep. The gentleman at the front desk got on the phone with the owner/manager Yash and he said that I could go to the sleep inn down the street another hotel that he owns or manages. So off to sleep inn I go. ||||I get to the sleep inn and she was on the phone with Yash she gets ready to check me in and gives me an amount ALMOST 200.00 more than what I would of paid at Red Roof so when I questioned why I wasn’t getting the same rate and then on top of that they wanted to charge me a pet fee bc I had my dog. I questioned as too why he knew what happened I should be not paying a different amount for being inconvenienced. So then because I was asking too many questions he then told the clerk that I was not welcome there at all. ||||They’re lost I was going to be there for 26 weeks. Yash if you are the same man who lives at the red roof inn in the room by the lobby you could have least came out and spoke with me directly. Your hotel has roaches and no one seemed the least bit surprised. As a matter of fact I am sure someone is sleeping in the same room they tried to give me as I am...
Read moreWe had gotten evicted from our home due to the rental we were in failing boro inspections. Having 2 disabled adults to care for, we could not stay in our vehicle for any length of time. My daughter found the Red Roof Inn on Google search which seem to have a relatively decent price for a week stay. Although we were leary about some of the reviews we read, we took a chance (it was a chance by need) to book a room for a week (ended up being an extended stay for which we did get a small discount). Contrary to what we read, we found our room to be in decent shape. The bathroom and room was actually clean. A little musty smell but that eventually faded. Beds had clean sheets and blankets. Also contrary to what we read, we never found bugs of any type in our room while we were there. We do keep our room cleaned up daily which helps keep bugs away. There are long term residents here, that we've gotten to know and be friendly with, which helps keep your stay pleasant. Employees (it took us awhile to break out of our comfort zone to interact with people) are pretty friendly and helpful. I've never run into any that had ever had a bad temper. All in all, the hotel is being worked on, but is kept as clean as it can be for the amount of people who stay here and come in and out on a...
