Bizarre waitress Reena/reeka? - How you treat people will come back to you. You are not the only person who works hard in life. I know we have bad days, but to lie about closing after you brought our drinks to us, and to be condescending on the food choices we made was just plain odd.
This waitress (Reena/Reeka was what we were told her name was) lied about closing time after she seats us Friday at 8:30pm but she told us AFTER we go our drinks “to hurry as they were closing”, (they actually closed at 10pm Friday, but we didn’t know & assumed we were late), and she also pushed a plate of food at me to finish so she could grab it, and criticized one of our sushi rolls for being a boring choice. We didn’t have time to make a decision and you stared at us while we looked at the menu. Maybe you thought we were just on our phones? But we were looking at the menu you had online because it was dark in there. Maybe you thought, but you thought wrong.
However when ordering, she glared at us, told us to hurry and I asked for the yellowtail Serrano plate, and she stopped to ask me if I wanted something called a yellow tail “delight”, so and I said yellowtail Serrano plate, which was different and we continued to order from the menu. I saw a sushi roll that looked good, called the yellowtail “delight” and quickly pointed at it to my bf. I had NO idea it happen to be the roll she mentioned earlier when I ordered yellowtail Serrano plate!!!! And who cares?!! But she rudely tells me and reminds “you said no to yellowtail delight earlier and now you order it anyway too???”. I told her I was sorry I was ordering yellow Serrano plate and at the time didn’t even know what sushi roll yellowtail “delight” was, because I LITERALLY DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO THINK when she first said it because I didn’t even get to read the menu!
Even after that, she made multiple rude remarks about my bf ordering a California roll and stated “that they have much better rolls”. We love sushi and all kind of food. He literally eats everything and just happen to add a California roll because we didn’t have time to read the menu. WE ORDERED 1 cali roll, 1 yellowtail delight, and some eel roll, 1 yellowtail serrano plate, and 1 salmon sashimi plate. We are fine with complex rolls and the basic rolls and whys she even worried.
With ALL that said, the worst was when we were in the middle of eating and her shoving my plate around to me with one last yellowtail Serrano slices and saying “YOU HAVE ONE MORE”. It was so ODD. She then disappeared and another lady brought us the check and we never saw her again.
We left the restaurant confused at 9:10PM (they close at 10) thinking they were closing at 9 due to her lie, while other customers continued to eat and come in the restaurant!! We actually we had 1.5 hours when we arrived at 8:30.
Go to Nakato restaurant instead for great service, authentic Japanese sushi and...
Read moreThis review has been inevitable. I have been to Yuzu several times and I feel conflicted. I withheld my reviews on the best spots but over time they shine and become popular eg. Sushi Hayakawa. So its inevitable. Yuzu is located on the ground floor of a mixed used development across the street from Chamblee Walmart (Chamblee Tucker Rd). Parking situation: they have 4 parking slots in the front and a bunch of additional parking as part of the mixed used development. Parking shouldn't be an issue. Inside the restaurant ambience is simple yet tasteful. Woodblock prints sparingly used and some sake vats/barrels placed about. Its a very warm homey atmosphere. Plenty of dishes on the menu so you maybe conflicted on what to order. For myself I try to keep to simple and traditional - none of that flash fried or cheese rolls. Service is amazing. Water is regularly filled. I also got my plate and utensils changed out for some nigiri i order afterwards. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The host also remembered me from my previous visit even by name. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed more so with this establishment. All the sushi rolls and nigiri were fantastic. Quality of the fish is excellent and the sauces and marinations is on point. I will come here again and again especially special occasions so that my friends experience it. Price vs food - I highly recommend it. You can't compromise on quality because of price in regards to sushi (my belief and experience). I would come here for special occasions and weekly...
Read moreBottom Line: I would recommend this restaurant. Fish quality is good, prices aren't bad. Great flavor. I would come back.
Atmosphere: Mid-light ambience. Classic piano music overhead. Very spacious and comfortable.
Food: The Miso Soup is a staple at any sushi restaurant and is a big factor in my reviews. While the seaweed tasted very fresh, the tofu was a bit too firm for what I'm used to and the taste of the soup had this elevated level of sweetness that I wasn't entirely fond of.
My Salmon Lemon Roll was great. The salmon tasted very fresh and was very tender. The shrimp tempura was cooked perfectly and the Lemon special Mayo that it was topped with complimented it very well. Only thing I didn't like was that there was a bit of lemon pulp on one of the pieces that made my face pinch. Overall, would recommend.
My companion got the Dragon Roll. Great balance of ingredients.
Service: We came an hour before closing. Our hostess seated us with a smile. Our waitress immediately brought us water and visited us at the perfect frequency to meet our needs without intruding on our experience. The food came out very quickly and she came with the bill while I only thought of it and not asked for it. Great service.
Overall: Certain items can use some improvements but I see great performance, quality, and potential for this restaurant. I will...
