I had an upsetting experience when I went to tour The Oliver on Friday and have taken time to compose my thoughts before leaving a review. When I walked in, I was greeted by a very sweet spirited woman named Constance. I let her know that I was returning for a second time because I loved the property so much and it was my top choice and I wanted to see a list of five units in person so I could decide which one worked best for me. In my mind, this was going to be my new home. Since I work from home a good bit, I needed to mentally map out office space, etc. she let me know that she was in her first week working there but that she would be happy to take me around. As she was preparing for the tour, I ran to the restroom and upon my return was greeted by Property Manager Melanie. She states to me that she wants to help me narrow down my choices instead of seeing all of the ones listed by asking me about price range, floor preference, etc. I answered her questions but could tell she had an agenda and that she was annoyed that I wanted to see these specific units that were all available and did not want to help. When I informed her that I had been there before and that I had done extensive research online and was in the finalizing stage of making a decision, she got a really disrespectful demeanor and said âwell, I guess we are seeing all of them then!â and rolls her eyes and returns to her office to gather her things. Immediately I felt on edge and poor Constance who was new began to apologize to me when I stated that if it was some sort of an inconvenience, I could go elsewhere⌠we proceeded to the tour, where Melanie followed us in the background (assume she was shadowing Constance since she was newer in her role, I get it, I train people too) but the entire time, gave off the vibe that I was wasting her time and that she was severely inconvenienced by me. She watched Constance struggle through answering some questions until I directed them towards her. I have incredible patience for new people and I must say that Constance was the only reason I continued the tour. I am actually incredibly disappointed because this was the property I wanted to be at, it had beautiful units, separate office space I could rent, everything. But to be treated in the demeanor I was treated by the property manager before I am even a resident, it let me know that I would not have a positive experience having to deal with leadership if I ever needed something if I were to move in. Not to mention if i rented an office space where i would be interacting in the leasing office daily. Iâm leaving this review in hopes that it is constructive and can aid in future prospects not feeling the way I did when coming to check out their potential new home. Again, Constance was so sweet, incredibly apologetic, and I could tell she was very uncomfortable by it all. I will be taking my money elsewhere, but I hope that this feedback is received and changes are made...
Read moreI visited the oliver today for a tour of apartments as i'm planning to move later this year. I can say the apartments themselves are beautiful with a prime location to shopping centers and within a 5 minute drive to various shopping centers and restaurants. The kitchens are spacious and i loved the black and white contrast in the rooms. The units themselves are pretty much everything I would want.
There are a few things that have turned me off to these apartments though.
First I arrived 10 to 15 minutes early for an appointments that has been scheduled for over a week. It's fine that I have to wait because I arrive early; however, at 1 pm Terry, the only person working in the office, finally arrived back with another group and I ended up waiting another 15 minutes or so for him to finish up. By the time I started talking to him and starting the tour another two groups showed up behind me, one of which was having issues moving in because they dropped their keys in the elevator shaft. Frankly, I felt bad for him because while he was extremely friendly, personable, and overall great at what he was doing, the place was understaffed completely. While it might seem small or petty, if I have to not only schedule an appointment and travel across atlanta to be there on-time for an appointment, I fully expect the complex to be staffed and ready for my arrival given that you all knew for more than a week in advance that I was coming while at the same time taking care of other residents.
Second, Terry was the only one in the office. When I arrived, there was no one to great me, offer me a water, or anything. I sat in the lobby hoping that someone would come back at sometime because the door wasn't reflecting that anyone was even around. If this is how you treat your potential residents, I hate to see how inaccessible you are to actual residents.
Third, since I had so much waiting time on my hands, I got to watch some of the residents doing their daily thing and walk around. I can't count how many dogs I saw without the owners picking up after them. The biggest draw for me was to be in a place within walking distance of so much stuff. With that many pets though not being picked up after, that doesn't sound good at all.
The final thing that annoyed me to no end is parking. The fact that this complex charges 15 dollars per month for the privilege for its residents to park in its facilities is ludicrous. All of the complexes i have lived at in multiple states usually have first come first server parking for anyone with the option of either reserving a parking spot for a fee or a garage for a fee. The fact that you have to sign a lease then pay for parking on top of it is completely stupid. Whatever company manages this complex seems completely incompetent on so many levels.
As I stand, this complex is a hard pass for me. The others I visited today are so much better despite being older and at least I won't have to pay...
Read moreThere was pubic hair on the toilet as well as urine stains when I moved into my apartment. The bedroom carpet had stains in it, and the paint was peeling off the doors. That should have been a major red flag, but I let it go as I didn't have any other living arrangements. If you move here, you'll see the same piles of dog feces piled up in the courtyards, smudged on the sidewalks and in the astro turf. It will stay there for weeks, and often months at a time. It's especially delightful in the colder months, because it freezes and becomes part of the landscape. I've lived here for over a year, and the asto turf has been cleaned once. Dogs defecate on it daily , and sometimes vomit on it too. The filth is a normal occurrence. Itâs inhumane to leave that much dog waste lying around and not hold residents accountable or hire someone to pick it up. It can make pets sick. And people for that matter. Recently, they hired a groundskeeper, but I'm not sure what he spends his time doing, because the filth is everywhere. There is filth in the hallways, stairwells, parking lot, parking garage, and courtyards. Building two is kept clean because that's where the amenities are. Shame on Greystar for letting FILTH pile up week after week, for allowing residents to smoke weed, for not sending an exterminator into apartments on a regular basis (bugs everywhere), and for allowing, what was once a nice place, to go down the drain. My family hates to come visit because it's so dirty here. There is trash in the hallways everyday of the week, even though trash isn't picked up daily. The smells from that are putrid, especially during the summer months. I've complained so many times to management that they just stopped answering me. I would love for someone from Greystar to do a surprise visit and tour the place. Or even someone from the county. I'm positive the amount of dog feces alone could warrant a fine. Stay far, far, far away from The Oliver. It's pretty on the outside, and absolutely disgusting...
