Golden Crab - Boiled Seafood & Bar — Restaurant in Champaign

If you love a good seafood boil you have to try this place out! My husband and I came in for our anniversary dinner and were not disappointed. We went pretty early so it wasn’t busy and we were seated right away. Lucas was our waiter and he was very friendly and great with making sure we knew everything we needed to know for our first time dining here! He was fast when bringing us extra napkins, drinks, etc. Now to the food: OMG!! I’m from the Pacific Northwest so I grew up on seafood, good fresh stuff pulled right out of the Sound so if I say this stuff is good, it’s good! We both had the seafood boil with shrimp, crab legs, and crawfish. We asked for “all of the above” (just trust me and do this), hubby got medium spice, I got mild (still very flavorful and had a little kick... if you don’t want any spice ask for not spicy), sausage and hard boiled egg (these are a little extra money but sooo worth it!) our food came out fairly quickly and it was just amazing, portions are generous and we took home leftovers, which they bag up for you in an oven safe bag so that you can throw it in the oven the next day when it will be just as great as the night it was fresh! Definitely not a cheap night out but so worth...

This was my first crab-boil experience, and I gotta say that this will be an experience that I'll cherish in my memories. The waitress was excellent with her service! checking in at the right moments but quick to not overstay and disturb the experience, it was quite refreshing.

As for the food! My partner in crime, and I ordered a pound of king crab legs each. They offer a good selection of seasonings and sides, as well a range of heat levels to choose from. I had a hard time choosing seasonings, so I ended up getting all of them with corn and potatoes. What really peaked my excitement was the heat levels. Now I'm a glutton for punishment, so I got the hottest, and boy, was I not let down. There's a point with hot peppers that taste is nonexistent and becomes bitter with pain. They, however, have discovered the best in my experience in balance of flavor and searing heat. Thankfully, I was able to blame the tears on the heat, but in reality, it was the best crab-boil dinner I've got to experience. AND is was only alittle over 80$ with tip included.
