I tried to go here, they let my entire girl group in but the Caucasian man at the gate claimed I refused to show id and denied me entry. There was a man of color alongside him but when addressed he replied “that’s the boss” instead of standing up for what’s right. (I keep two ids in my wallet, both valid and showing that im of age, 25 years old) (I’m a black masculine woman and that was my first time attempting to experience the establishment.) I haven’t had this experience at a black owned establishment around the corner. I’m positive I was denied entry due to being a black masculine lesbian . There were plenty of other people there from different classifications of people but for some reason i was denied with two PHYSICAL forms of identifications and enough money. I was never disrespectful with anyone and I wasn’t heavily intoxicated . Just go to Neil st blues if you’re a masculine presenting woman. They will welcome you with open arms no matter what you look like, and security stands up for what’s right. They go by rules and not personal opinions. No one deserves to be discriminated against in that fashion. Go where you and your friends/family will be respected and appreciated. It’s just my first time and I will never spend my money there due to how I was treated compared to everyone else I was with. It’s heartbreaking . Even at esquire I was treated with respect and that’s also around the corner.
