This might be the 2nd best BBQ place I have ever been to so far.
I kept looking at the reviews and saw that almost everywhere they have 4.0+ Stars. So the bar was set pretty high before I even entered.
My order: Pulled Pork Sandwich Fries Mac n' Cheese Corn Bread
First, let me start by saying that it might take a while to get your order if you walk in. But it is 100% worth the wait. I recommend calling or ordering online. I didn't know I could being as this was my first visit.
Their BBQ sauce is on point. If you love spicy food, get the Hot. If you can't handle spice, STAY AWAY FROM THE HOT. They are not messing around when they say hot.
The Pulled Pork was really well done and had a good meat to sauce to bread ratio. One didn't over power any of the others. Really well made.
The fries are a good portion and love that they poured BBQ sauce on them. Thank you for that.
Corn bread is super fluffy and I couldn't find a dry spot as I was eating. I'll be making sure to order some every time I visit now.
The Mac n' Cheese was really cheesy. And not like cheese sauce cheese. Like, real cheese cheesy. It was great.
I'll be going to visit a lot more and I'm going to attempt to try every single item on the menu. I hope to try the ribs on the next visit. Looking forward to it already!
I'll be sure to update this...
Read moreThe theory holds true, "Simple looking BBQ joints usually have the best BBQ" and this place proved it. There is nothing fancy about the building, but that's ok because all the glitz and glamour was in the food. I ordered the 1/2 slab and hot link. The total was roughly $16. One of the first times I've had a rib that was so delicious locally. You could taste everything about it, from the natural meat flavor, to the seasonings and sauce. The only negative was the ribs were a bit on the tough side. The hot link was spot on, great tender snap of the casing and flavor was well balanced. I had the hot bbq sauce and opted for it to be poured on my meal. I wanted to see if they would drown their meats out, but that wasn't the case at all. Just enough to accent the meat and not overpower it. The flavor of the sauce was about a 4 out of a 5. I wish there were options other than fries for the meal, I know I could order them separately but would have liked them with the meal. More meat options would be great as well. Overall this is truly the best BBQ in the area. Forget the glitz and glamour of some other places and have some real BBQ.
I forgot to take a pic before I started eating, but here's a shot...
Read moreMove over BD, there's a new pit in town! They are doing it right at Wood N' Hog in Champaign. I got the large BBQ tips with fries and their mixed sauce. Once I took my first bite I forgot all about getting a picture! 🤣 Just means I'm going to have to go back and try again! Anyone who's read my reviews knows I'm about cleanliness and Mike and his gang got that on lock down. Portions were big and the meat was perfect. Good smoke, juicy, and tender. Sauce was good as well but I felt it lacked the heat I was expecting so I'll kick that up next time. 😅 My friend got the pulled chicken sandwich special which quickly took priority over our conversation, lol. There wasn't a crumb left I noticed. BONUS: The OWNER, Mike, came over asked us how it was and how do we feel it could be improved! (I know, right?!) This is someone who cares and cherishes the customer experience and it shows. He wrote down our thoughts and thanked us. Y'all need to stop by check this place out. It's the real deal. "All...
