I asked CU the best place to get a burger non chain. Overwhelming response was Smith Burger. It was just our luck they recently collaborated with Collective Pour. The atmosphere that the two provided was fun and family friendly. There was all ages there both eating and drinking. The food was delicious. Serving size for the price, quality, and quickness was reasonable. What blew us out of the water was what they did for my daughter. We were there for her 13th birthday and she was feeling kinda sad because her class didn't sing to her as they had others. I asked if they could do anything special and they were hesitant but then quickly said, we'll figure something out. I'm not sure if he's the owner? The taller guy with lighter hair that was doing all the jobs. He was the one that made the decision to make my daughter feel special. We had finished our dinner (as much as we could!) And suddenly they came out with a little bowl of vanilla ice cream with a couple oreos. I asked our table with two other couples if they'd sing happy birthday to my girl. Within a few seconds of singing THE ENTIRE FULL RESTAURANT was singing happy birthday to her. Now heres the above and beyond part...neither Smith nor the bar serve ice cream nor do they have anything with oreos. I don't know where they got it, if they bought it, stole it from an employees lunch (lol) or what... they went so far above what i was expecting. They have no idea how amazing they made her feel. You could go a few places to get a good burger. However you won't get the the amazing people at Smith Burger. (It wouldn't let...
Read moreThis past Monday my partner and I decided to check out Smith Burger for the first time. Looking over the menu everything sounded so good! A lady was sitting next to where I was looking at the menu and she introduced herself as the owners mother. I asked her what she really loved to get as I couldn’t make my mind up, and she said she is on their salad kick currently. So I ordered the grilled chicken Cobb salad. My partner got the mushroom Swiss burger. We ordered and were given a pager that went off when our food was done. We both were shocked by how quickly our food was made! No joke, less than 10 min and it arrived! PERFECT for our lunch break! I was taken aback by seriously how beautiful my salad was presented. Not only did it look beautiful it tasted even better! It’s a very large salad and I couldn’t finish it all. It was so good! My partners Swiss and mushroom burgers was also very good. (He reluctantly let me have a single bite!LOL!). Because of how delicious and quick our lunch was I came back the very next day and ordered the all American and the cheese curds to go. I went at 1230pm-prime lunch hour and was amazed that I had my food ready to go in about 5 min! I got back to work within 10min of leaving for lunch and I shared half my burger and cheese curds with my coworker. We BOTH LOVED it and it filled us both up. I will absolutely be making Smith Burger Company a regular lunch spot! 10/10 recommend! Fast, delicious and...
Read moreSmith Burger Co. catered a coaches clinic at U of I. I was working at the facility where the clinic was and was told I was welcome to grab a burger. WHOOOAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS is what a burger should taste (and look) like. Perfectly cooked and seasoned/seared. The Cajun fries were perfect too! If you're going to go into the food truck/restaurant business, learn from Smith Burger Co. on how to do it right. If you're going to go out for a burger in the Champaign-Urbana area, you're going to be so glad you chose Smith Burger Co. as your option. The gentlemen working the food truck were also genuinely kind and engaging, and that makes everything even better. As I'm coming to the end of this review, I'm realizing I probably should have included a photo of my meal. At this point there's not enough of the burger and fries left to post a photo of though :)...
