I paid with a credit card. I was still at the table chatting with my guests. The server walked up with the credit card receipt and said “I believe you forgot to give me a tip” No I didn’t forget but you will NOT be getting a tip from me now! I do cash for tip so servers can get that money immediately. Unbelievable. Service is fair at best and its been only “fair” for 20 years. She asked us if we like any drinks. We asked for water. She did not bring water and we had to ask again for water. No refills on drinks so not even a basic service was provided. Now you walk up to customers demanding tip for not even providing basic service? Try better service to start! When I told her you have already charged $5 service fee she immediately got her "manager" to confront me that is not a service fee but it is charge per person for the hot tea. I told the manager since only 2/5 at the table had hot tea you can take out the $3 you charge me for no reason and give that to her as a tip. Then the manager starts to argue with me why I did not leave a tip. I told her your employee came to my table and demand a tip while we are still chatting?! You believe I will leave a tip at this point? NOT A CHANCE! This is by far the most ridiculous action I have ever seen in a restaurant. A tip is for service above and beyond normal service. When basic service is not even provided you want a tip? I DON'T THINK SO!
Dim sum items are all premade ordered in from supplier. Nothing is home made.It is still pretty good once you spend some time telling them NO I don't want that item. They have a pushy sales tactic with items. Price have gone up twice in the last few month. It is almost not worth the price they...
Read moreThe House Special Chow Mein is the best I've ever had. I called in an order for several dishes, one being the chow mein for pickup last night and requested 'extra crispy' on the noodles and this is the first restaurant that has actually honored my 'extra crispy' request. All the others say they will but don't. Secondly, this restaurant placed the noodles in a separate container and the house special gravy in a separate container; thus, ensuring the noodles would not be soggy when ready to eat. Seems like common sense to separate but most restaurants don't consider whether its crispy or soggy when you get it home. The third bonus, is the super professional, efficient, considerate young man who answered the phone (and fluent in English) when I ordered and rang my food up when I arrived. Little did he know I was heading back to Tucson and the food kept well in the 1hr+ drive because of his packaging. Chef, thank you for honoring my request of 'extra crispy' chow mein it was absolutely delicious, leaving me only wanting more. Thank you, sir for communicating my request and for your efficiency!! Will...
Read moreThe battle over the best dim sum in the area. Dim sum Cafe is my favorite so far.
But Phoenix Palace is a very close second.
I did arrive late on a Monday night and was not aware that the dim sum menu was restricted after 3:00 p.m. but that's okay.
I ordered the wonton noodle soup which came with a bunch of things in it. Though all the extra things were a little surprising it was still rather delicious.
The hot and sour soup is probably one of the best hot and sour soups I've ever had with PF Chang's being a close second.
All of the steamed items that I tried were all excellent and tasted really good. I think the pork buns were a little better than dim sums. which is crazy for me to say because I love everything at dim sum Cafe.
The only issue I have really is that there are no pictures on any of the menus and it's hard to choose what to eat when you don't know what it is you're getting. But on that note it's also a little exciting because you don't know what you're going to get either when you order a bunch of random things.
I will definitely...
