This is the most bizarre experience we've had at a boba shop yet. We used to go here when they first opened, but haven't been back for a couple years after moving out of state. Their drinks are typically much better.
For context, we ordered our drinks in-person for take out. Sometimes we don't open the drinks until we get home/to our destination ~30 min later. (Ideally we should've tried the drinks asap in the store and confirmed they were okay before leaving, so that part is on us.)
We are visiting town for a brief week and wanted to use a gift card we received a long time ago. On Day 1, we ordered 4 drinks including the Grape Duo. We were picking up food for friends and meeting them for dinner, so this was the first stop.
My husband tried the Grape Duo just as we were pulling in to our friend's place 45 min after picking the drinks up. The drink tasted great! However, after the first sip, he suddenly began spitting out tiny pieces of aluminum foil with every sip thereafter. We inspected the drink and saw a piece or two of foil at the bottom of the cup. Strange;;;
We left the drink behind while we met with our friends, but when we got home later that night, I figured I'd strain it and see how much foil was in the cup. Surprisingly, more and more foil bits started coming out. See in the photo with the paper towel and spoon-- there were also smaller pieces that had gotten stuck in the holes of my strainer and couldn't get them out.
We think it may be wrapping for the grape jelly, because some of the foil was stuck ON and IN the jelly and we had to pick it off with our fingers.
The next day, Day 2, we went back to the store and told the girl who had made the drink. She offered to remake or give us a refund. My husband enjoyed the flavor of the drink, so he wanted to try it again. We inspected the new cup in the car and didn't see any obvious contamination. However, after a few more sips we started getting sizeable pieces of foil again. This time I was the one who got to experience picking it out after feeling something sharp on my tongue.
My husband is an optimist and drank as much as he could tolerate spitting foil out. But he ended up trashing the drink at home as it was literally just inedible and he could not take a sip without getting foil stuck in his throat.
As a customer, I would advise against getting the Grape Duo for now.... The management should really look into the grape jelly stock and see if what they ordered from their supplier was adulterated OR if it is the way they are making the product and unwrapping the jelly. It is really disappointing to have tried the drink twice and gone out of our way to go back to the store and leave both times with inedible drinks...
Read moreMediocre at best, their milk tea was barely passable, pretty depressing not to mention well overpriced. I ordered a large black milk tea with less ice and boba. The tea solution was grossly diluted and inconsistent. The tea was weak, not potent at all, also the powdered cream they used tasted very cheap. Made me feel like I was drinking toilet water mixed with bad off brand sugar packets and creamer found from some motel lobby that they decided to slap together. Not to mention their boba is a miserable excuse for decent tapioca pearls. They were undercooked and over-saturated with brown sugar, which destroyed the flavor of the drink. The boba came in a small quantity which turned out to be a good thing. To top that the service wasn't any better, it took them five minutes to prepare a single drink without any other customers inside. One of the workers spilled my drink midway making it, and used a dirty rag wiping the top of my drink 😐. After it was finished they didn't bother to remake it or compensate for the loss of volume because the drink was only 80% filled to the top. Overall, not impressed, I'm more impressed by the fact of how garbage this place was. Besides the nice aesthetic and clean environment, this place doesn't have much going for it. I know they have been open for over a week now but that is not an excuse. Black milk tea boba is a standard that is hard to mess up, but they easily proved otherwise. There are plenty of boba shops that serve drinks five times as good, at half the price. WORST boba I've had in a long time. If you are looking for quality bubble tea, DO...
Read moreBeen going to this Raretea Chandler since they have opened about 2 years ago. The tea quality is usually good, but the service has been very bad these days. The drinks are extremely inconsistent. We usually get the Tea-Presso milk teas. The drinks come out either too diluted, too sweet, not sweet enough, not the right balance of milk and tea, etc. The boba has been too chewy these days as well.
The baristas seemed to be poorly trained. Just recently I had ordered a tea-presso milk tea with regular boba. When I received the drink, I saw caramel in the drink. I asked the barista if she accidentally put brown sugar boba instead of regular boba. She said no and that the caramel had to do with the way they scooped the boba. When I drank it, it was clearly brown sugar boba…
