Made a quick stop here this weekend on opening day. I've been a patron of their sister bar The Wandering Tortoise for the last few years and I definitely wanted to check this place out.
It was extremely busy and a little overwhelming but there was no wait for service and I got some good beer recommendations including selections from Modern Times and Pure Project. I know that this venue has strong ties to the craft beer scene and you can definitely tell by talking with the staff and perusing their selection. I was amazed at the prompt service, even with all the people present.
I want to also compliment the appearance of the venue. It has a very open and light feel to it which definitely makes it a welcoming place to visit. I also like the abundance of seating so its easy to find a place to sit down and enjoy a beer.
Right now my concern is about how crowded it was over the weekend. I definitely want to return, but will do so once things quiet down a bit.
I don't normally order food if I'm sampling beer but I could see the lack of current take away food options in the area being a concern for some patrons.
Overall I was pretty happy with my visit and I look forward to visiting again...
Read moreI would rate this place a lot higher had I not had an awkward experience with this place my first time in. I was being helped by a very knowledgeable and friendly Tiffany. She mentioned I could build a four pack if I didn’t see it and was overall a pleasure, giving me the price of a four pack I already pointed out. She walked away to let me browse and help another customer. This place has a nice selection for the size of cooler space. When I placed my 3 four packs on the counter some other guy came in and tried to tell me the prices were different and had a difficult time even explaining to Tiffany what was going on. I even got the ol’ “well the manager doesn’t want us doing that” from him and, “it’s my first day” line from her. I wouldn’t expect this kind of service from a nice downtown Gilbert venue. I was really turned off by the whole experience and the guy wasn’t very professional in my opinion. I won’t return, it’s a shame because it’s a nice...
Read moreFIRST TIME VISITORS POST (KINDA LONG) Pros: Nice Variety of styles on draft & in coolers Chill atmosphere Cons: Bartender charged me $2 for a 1oz bag of chips because you need to have food right in front of you if you want a in-house pour (The posted notice at the door DID NOT mention this) I noticed that out of the 32 selections on draft only 10 were offered in 16 oz pours the rest were either 10 oz or 5 oz pours Beers are a bit pricey compared to other bottle shops I've been to (certain 10 oz pours were being offered around $7-$10) Overall: The experience I had was okay, the bartender who helped me sounded like he wanted to be somewhere else, the second bartender was much more easy going. The beer prices aren't terrible but I would rather go to the local breweries than come here, especially if I can get a 16oz at the brewery for the same price they sell a 10 oz for. Most likely won't return unless I really wanted to wet the...
