I want to make it clear that I have sympathy for McD's employees because when I was in college I was a crew trainer at a McDonald's. Although I am well aware what it's like to work at McD's, I also know the proper way to run a McD's, as I was in charge of training everyone. So, I feel for them when I observe rude customers mistreating them, but I also get highly annoyed when the employees do a lousy job. It's not rocket science -- it's pretty easy to do things correctly.
That being said, every trip to this McDonald's (the closest to my house) has been a ridiculously painful experience. Virtually every time they're either not including food (like a 10-piece nugget) that I ordered or they screw up a special order (like a double cheeseburger with only ketchup).
The latest visit today was just the epitome of ridiculous. I currently have a broken leg and can't drive. My children ended up having a snow day off from school, so I decided to try the McDonald's App to order food, have one of my kids drive me there to pick it up, and then we have an easy lunch, right? The app is tedious at best, but I figured it out and placed the order. We then drove there to pick it up, used the app to notify them we were here and parked. 5 mins later (it would've been faster just to go through the drive-thru like normal) an employee walks out to us with a single medium drink, hands it to us, and goes back inside. We had ordered like $20 worth of food. I looked at my son and said, "They're not coming back out with the rest. They think that's all we ordered. We're going to have to go in." So out of the car I go with my broken leg, and three employees later I'm finally talking to an assistant manager. She apologizes profusely, and then hands me a bag of food that's obviously been sitting on the counter for 15 mins. Seeing the look on my face, she offers to provide me with fresh fries. I point out that (surprise!) the bag is missing two 10-piece chicken nuggets. I also have to ask for sauce and ketchup (which were specifically part of the order via the app). I hobble back to the car and go home to eat my cold food.
This is just so typical of this particular McD's. Just a horrible place. Every time I go there with the idea of giving them yet another chance to redeem themselves, it turns out just as bad, if not worse, as previous visits.
Just drive the extra two or so miles to the next nearest McD's. You'll be...
Read moreOh, where do I even begin with McDonald's curbside pick up? What an absolute disaster of an experience! I ordered through their supposedly convenient curbside service, only to be left waiting like a lost soul in limbo for over 10 agonizing minutes. I mean, seriously, how hard is it to bring a bag of fast food to a customer's car?
After wasting what felt like an eternity, I couldn't take it anymore and decided to brave the hazards of going inside the restaurant to inquire about my order. And let me tell you, the encounter with the worker was nothing short of a nightmare. The employee, who was probably having a bad day or just didn't give a darn about customer service, was as rude as they come. Instead of apologizing for the delay or trying to rectify the situation, they had the audacity to tell me that if I wanted my food, I should have the privilege of walking inside and picking it up myself. Excuse me, isn't the whole point of curbside pick up to avoid going inside?
The lack of communication and utter disregard for customers' time is appalling. Why even offer a curbside pick up service if you can't manage to deliver on such a basic promise? It's as if they enjoy torturing their customers with unfulfilled expectations and a complete lack of respect.
I can't help but wonder if this is a systemic issue at this particular McDonald's location or if it's a company-wide problem. Either way, it reflects terribly on the brand as a whole. I don't know about you, but I expect better from a global fast-food giant like McDonald's.
Needless to say, this dreadful experience has left me with a sour taste in my mouth, and I'll think twice (or thrice) before subjecting myself to McDonald's curbside pick up "service" ever again. Save yourself the frustration and go somewhere else where they actually know how to treat their customers with the decency and respect...
