A few people have recommended Mellow Mushroom today so I made my way over on a Sunday evening after placing an online order for a shiitake pie and a white pie, both crispy and regular crust (you can customize). The restaurant is located in a little shopping area with a Wegmans and lots of other eats (I might have to come back to try some others).
It's more of a sit-in restaurant/bar, which I didn't realize until I got there. The restaurant was relatively busy with ample outdoor seating. Parking is in the back. We were greeted promptly upon arrival and our pies were ready to go. The host gave us napkins, paper plates, crushed red chili packets, and parm packets.
One thing to note - none of the staff members, including waiters/waitresses, wore masks. With covid on the rise and hospitals being overburdened, it is a policy that should be enforced to protect staff and patrons. Even if you're vaccinated, you can still be infected and also act as a carrier and get others infected. Many of the smaller covid outbreaks in the initial stages of the pandemic were traced back to restaurants, specifically back end restaurant staff, so there is inherently higher risk for them, and everyone needs to do their part to protect them.
The drive back was about 35 mins, during which time the pizza had cooled down some, but I threw my slices into the air fryer at 400 for 4 mins and they were good as new.
On to the food itself - the pizza was SO GOOD. The shiitake was well seasoned, perfectly topped, and had a deep mushroom flavor. The aioli swirl was the cherry on top. The white pizza had both sundried and fresh tomatoes and plenty of garlic. I loved both. The crust is so chewy and flavorful and perfect. Next time I'd ask for the thinner crust - it was little bready for me. Pricewise, they might seem pricey to someone who frequents big chains, but I think it's justified given the toppings and quality. One large pie is about $25. All in all, great experience and I can't wait to come...

Read moreLet me begin by saying that we patronize Mellow Mushroom which is over a half hour of a drive away from us due to the great quality of their pizza. My negativity is due to the following: part of my order was missing. After receiving confirmation from the driver that he didn't steal it nor did he forget to deliver it, I called the restaurant. Their phone rang twice and then went to voicemail. I never allow them to get away with that cruddy dismissive tactic, which this particular restaurant has done to me previously. I called right back and this time a young boy answered the phone with a horrible attitude. When I explained my situation, he said that he was busy and may have forgotten to include the part of my order that was missing. I waited for about 30 seconds for an apology, offer to make it right or something but when he did speak it was with this, "If you have a problem with it, call Doordash" and then hung up on me. This happened on 04/23/2025 @ 8 p.m. I include this date/time stamp, just in case the owner or manager happens to see this and can "rewind the tapes" to see who it was and hopefully reprimand the boy. Besides this, it took 2 hours and 18 minutes to receive our then, cold and soggy food. This was the first and will be the last time we order delivery from them. This never happens when I go in and pick up my order. Just a shame that it all went down the way that it did and if no one ever complains or says anything about things like this, it will never be addressed...
