China Wok — Restaurant in Chapel Hill

I was expecting another run of the mill, strip-mall, Chinese joint. Boy, was I surprised! They have booths and tables for dine-in, along with table waitstaff. I was promptly seated and given the lunch menu. I was super hungry so I ordered the General Tsao Chicken, an Egg Roll, and Hot & Sour Soup, along with a Sweet Iced Tea. I was kind of expecting them to bring everything at once, but they actually served it in "courses." First up was the Hot and Sour Soup, with a bowl on Wonton Noodles - Excellent. Then they brought out an egg roll with dipping sauce, and a few moments later, the General Tsao Chicken with Rice. Food was excellent. It was served on actual glass plates with metal silverware- You don't see that often at Chinese strip-mall restaurants! Wait staff was attentive but not over-bearing. Total bill was $16 and I left a $5 tip. Very impressed -...

It’s Chinese food. It’s good. Two things I require when eating Chinese food. Needs to be Chinese and needs to be good. Even if it is Americanized. The lunch specials are nicely priced.

The staff here is super nice. I don’t have to wait too long for my food. They have a comfortable place for you to wait for your food.

There isn’t any over head music when I come in for lunch mostly and I am ok with that. At least it isn’t top 40 music. I think if they piped in what currently was playing in China for music that’d be cool. Or even traditional music to complete the ambience. But I’m weird.

This used to be my favorite Chinese Restaurant, and I ordered take out at least once a week. On Friday, I ordered Egg Foo Young. It was burned and not edible. I went back on Sunday to order a couple of appetizers. I let the young lady taking my order know that the food that I had ordered several days prior had been burned. She became very nasty. Called me a liar and told me than I didn't know what I was talking about. I asked her to cancel my current order, and to refund my money. Very rude and unprofessional. China Wok has lost a long time...
