Haven't been able to eat all day after a bad experience at a local restaurant last night, so I was really prepared to just get Chipotle -- then I saw the picture of their Gyro. The picture alone looked amazing, so after reading their menu and some reviews I had to give them a try.
Came in looking near picture perfect (look at that wrap!). It was seriously well constructed, which is something you really don't notice unless it's bad. First bite got a touch of everything and to my sadness, meh . The bread was great, and really carried the whole sandwich (lolol). The veggies were bright and fresh, there was a phenomenal pickle (needed more), and the meat was alright. Classic seasoning on the meat, but so classic it just came off as generic.
Now the make or break is always the sauce, and they smothered this mother in their house tzatziki. Where. Is. The. Garlic. I was so disappointed! Everything about it was great, but I swear to you there was no garlic added at all.
I'd definitely be willing to give another menu item a try again, because the Gyro was tasty, just...
Read moreUpdate: just wanted to say that I moved to Atlanta and have tried the falafel pita at a few Greek restaurants in the area, and most definitely have not found any that make them as good as you guys. 😿 Will make sure to stop by next time I'm in Chapel Hill.
I'm vegetarian so really can't speak on the meat platters, but the falafel pita and grape leaves are delicious and are my go-to. The Greek Veggie platter is also pretty good but for the price I wish it came with more salad. My family has been in the restaurant industry most of my life so I have worked in it for a good amount of years myself, so I like to recognize good customer service in other restaurants. When the owner is there he's always really nice and on our first visit gave us a free pistachio baklava. Other employees are always really friendly too. Restaurant is always clean. Overall I have no complaints, except that I would like to see more salad on the platters, but everything else was a...
Read moreBig fan of Greek Food so I was very excited when this place opened up. As far as quick & fresh Greek Food goes it's probably the best on Franklin. Obviously Kipo's is the best Sit-Down (at higher cost) and Med Deli is good if you are really hungry, like starving in the desert hungry, considering their portion size.
But comparable restaurants aside GRK Yeero has some very good food for a reasonable prices. I've had the Grape Leaves, tzatziki, tabbouleh, Hummus, Chicken, Pita and Salad. Of those the only thing I wasn't super fond of was the salad dressing, which was more of a personal preference thing. Staff are also very friendly and welcoming.
So if the biggest complaint is the salad dressing you know it's a good place to eat. Also the try the cheesecake baklava, I can't adequately describe how good it tastes w/o...
