Church's Texas Chicken — Restaurant in Charleston

If i could give a negative score I would.

I work about 6 mins down the road from this place so I decided to place a pickup order. I noticed that they offer curbside pickup so I scheduled an order 1 hour and 20mins early so that I could drive by on my lunch break, and still have enough time to get back and eat before resuming my 12-hour shift. I pulled into the parking space clearly labeled for CURBSIDE PICKUP in front of the restaurant. I could see the staff inside and a someone hanging out within the place, but not behind the counter. It was odd because I watched an employee lock the door behind him after he left. Anyway, I hit the "I'm here" button on the website probably about 3-4 separate times. I called the number on the curbside parking sign, and the number on my order confirmation email 6 times. The first 4 times the phone was busy, the 5th time it rang twice, someone picked up and then hung up, and when I called back it was miraculously busy again. After spending almost half my break waiting for someone to finally come out, I decided to try to go in but the doors were locked. An employee made a gesture to go around- which i assumed was the drive-through. Of course there was a line. I tried to circle around to see if I was missing a window for curbside, but of course there wasn't! As the employees watched me circle the establishment twice, I parked right back in front of the place, in the same curbside parking spot, walked up and gave them a gesture to cancel my order. Finally someone looked up (who I assume was the manager), she yelled "what?"...from behind the counter, surrounded by the other employees, and through the glass doors!!! I yelled back to cancel my order! She didn't seem to understand (maybe because i was outside and she was a good distance away.. and inside!), finally came up to the door and opened it in which I told her that I wanted my order canceled because I have now spent my whole break trying to get an order that I had placed an hour and a half ago! 2 hours later, and I am still waiting for my money to be refunded! The service was absolutely atrocious! The drive-through speaker has been broken since they re opened. We pulled up to the window and the young lady at the window opened it and just stared at us. She never greeted us, and never spoke until she had to ask us to show her the coupon on our church's app. Once we told her the food that we warning to order, she closed the window when we still wanted to order drinks. She was very short with us and kept walking away from the window as we talked to her. Aside from her offer a the worst customer service ever known to man, they had no plates, no silverware, they served us burnt biscuits that were hard, dry, and couldn't be eaten. They had half gallon drinks advertised, but when we Asked for a 1/2 gallon of lemonade she said Bay didn't have any. We then ask for a 1/2 gallon of tea, she said they had none, so den we asked What did they have available in the Half gallon or did they have gallon drinks. At that point she kind of yelled at us and said they had no more jugs. Finally we asked her To have 3 cups of ice water since they had nothing else. Again, she walked away from the window close date and slam the cups down as she fixed us 3 cups of water. None of the cups of water had ice in them and she didn't even want to give us straws. Finally me we were able to get our recently and I check the bag. With the exception of the rock biscuits that they served us, but chicken was hot, fresh and juicy. The fried okra was fresh as well. Even though we had to go somewhere else to get spoons for our mashed potatoes and gravy, that was tasty as well. I am unsure why the service at churches chicken has always been an issue, but I will say it does not make you want to return. I walked in 5 minutes after pick up time and before I could say I was here for pickup the staff member says "the inside is closed, you have to go through the drive through" I said I had a pick up order and I selected pickup inside. The young man picked up my order ticket that was still attached to the printer and said he would bring it outside. There are now about 14 cars outside in the lot and drive through, and multiple people keep going in asking what the heck is going on because but keep having cars going through the drive-thru pulling up on the side. Don't know if they just didn't make enough chicken or what but this is just silly. Finally got my order about 20ish minutes after it was supposed ready.

I gave a few stars because The food is still good and the young man that brought the food out was sweet. Honestly also, it's still better service than than any of the Taco bells in the area. So there's that. I'd be waiting 40 minutes had I gone of...
