We have been here one time before the previous year and what I remember it was a decent experience that time, but this year things were a little different. ||||Firstly, the parking situation is extremely confusing and the code scanner doesn’t work consistently; if you have trouble. Don’t expect any adequate help from staff of the lot or hotel. ||||Secondly, they offer complimentary breakfast which is very nice as you fill out a card that they take after 11pm and bring to you at your designated time the next morning. However, our second morning we didn’t receive our breakfast and we had picked the latest time they had available, which was the time that breakfast ended in general. That wasn’t a massive deal but it did force us to go out for breakfast elsewhere and spend time and money that we had already planned for our morning. ||||Lastly, the most important issue that needs to be addressed here is their keys. I’m not sure if all their keys are the same and just open all the rooms, but for our situation, we had 2 separate rooms which were close but not side by side. I thought they were side by side and had accidentally walked up to the wrong room and unlocked it and opened it and there was only one bed so we were confused and decided speak with management. When closing the door we saw the room number which was the wrong number for our rooms. We then realized that the key for our main room also worked on the second room we had booked. So far 1 key had worked for 3 different rooms which was problem enough. I did a little investigating and decided to go to 2 different rooms and try the key on them. I never fully opened the doors but I had stuck the key in and simply unlocked and re-locked the doors just to test to see if they worked. I highly advise against doing what I did but I decided not to bring this to the attention of management as I believe they may be part of lazy service and decide to remove us from the building. You can say there may be a fluke with these keys but we also tested our second key for our main room which worked on our second room also so we suspected that it worked exactly like the first key that had access to 5 different rooms here at Kings Courtyard. This is a serious issue as anyone can breach your privacy knowingly or unknowingly at any time. I hope this is addressed properly as this could become...

Read moreThe inn was beautiful and in an absolutely prime location in downtown Charleston. ||Upon arrival, the innkeeper and staff greeted us with true Southern hospitality and were a wealth of information on the history, food and attractions of the area. They were all lovely to work with for the duration of our stay, made us feel welcome and taken care of. ||We had five in our party, and booked two rooms on the third floor. The master suite adjoined the other via a small hallway, giving us the feeling of our own private wing. Both rooms were beautiful, with high ceilings and a lovely vintage esthetic. There were french doors that opened to a Juliet balcony, which offered a nice morning/evening breeze and a visual into the courtyard below. Both rooms held their own bathroom with shower. There was plenty of storage for our clothing and a tv in each room. ||This Inn is right on King street, so EVERYTHING is just outside the door and highly walkable. Within 20 minutes of the stoop, you'll find amazing restaurants, all manner of shopping experiences and fantastic history. Charleston harbor is blocks away and from there you can see the Ravenel Bridge, the USS Yorktown, Fort Sumter National Monument, dolphins jumping and the iconic Pineapple Fountain, to name a few. ||The Inn and its surroundings seemed very safe. We had no worries about our teen daughters heading out on foot to have their own adventures and dining choices, even after dark. There seemed to always be other good natured people around along with a horse and buggy nearby telling passengers historic tales. ||Highly recommend Kings...
