My girlfriend and I came after a long work week to grab a few beers and some apps. We scanned the bar code on the menu to determine what to order and asked the bar tender about their happy hour. He replied “all beer and liquor is discounted”. On the scanned menu, it stated that it was “$1 off beer” and the 6 chicken wings were “$8.99”. Upon receiving the check, the beer we ordered was not discounted and the 6 wings were “$10.99”. There was also a service fee of 3% on top of the tax and final total.
When we attempted to ask the bartender about it, she became defensive and said we had to talk to the manager (whom we had no idea who it was). We asked who the manager was and the waitress was rude and standoffish. After a while of waiting. The manager came over and was condescending and rude when we were just genuinely questioning the large discrepancy in pricing. He made manipulative comments stating “well if you aren’t able to afford what you came out to purchase then that’s on you” and “I said the beer was discounted. How was I supposed to know you wanted the 6oz happy hour beer?”
The information regarding their happy hour and pricing was grossly misrepresented on their menu and in their interactions when we specifically asked about it prior to ordering. When we were kindly asking about the price differences, they became defensive and tried to imply we were out ordering food and drinks we are unable to afford (they know nothing about us and the work we do or what kind of funds we have). It was embarrassing, disappointing, and ultimately misleading. I’ve never been treated in this regard and was ultimately appalled by their responses and the way we were treated.
Further, they accused us of lacking knowledge of the service industry (I and both my parents have worked in this industry for many years to put ourselves through school and none of our experiences have resulted in a need to lie to our patrons and add fake prices/mislead our patrons in menus). They have a scan bar code to look at their menu which in no way has an asterisk or other area that draws attention to changes or inflation in pricing. They need to be more straight forward and upfront about the drastic changes in pricing as opposed to the presentation on their menu. They also need to treat their patrons with respect. As a resident of Charleston who frequently visits local bars and restaurants, I have never experienced the type of price inflation and upright lying that they did.
I’ve never been treated with such disrespect and condescending tones. The bar tender even came by to scream “the guy down there says he’ll pay the difference in price for them”. It was rude and belittling. I would urge anyone thinking of going here to not go.
There are so many wonderful establishments in Charleston that will treat their patrons with dignity, respect, and be upfront with their pricing. This is the worst experience I’ve had in my 6 years of Charleston living.
DO NOT GO HERE. I’d give 0 stars if that was an option.

Read moreIn all the places we went in Charleston we were treated very nicely and enjoyed ourselves immensely. But not here. And to make matters worse, the "patron" who was unnecessarily rude and high antagonistic turned out to be someone who WORKS in the bar. I tried to move an empty seat and was accosted by the off-duty employee as if i were trying to take her purse. Before i could put the chair back (which i am happy to do) she was back at me for another round of combative and insulting comments. I told her to "hang on princess" and put the barstool back. Two and a half hours later , after some food and beers my party of 4 stood to leave, at which time the woman-scorned-princess got off her barstool, banged into me with "f--k you princess" as her substitution for "excuse me". Her erstwhile boyfriend stood to her defense (telling me "she works at the bar" . . . because why?) I asked him if the f-bomb was the best he could do as an insult when the bar tender (who had received at 30% tip from us (2 couples in their late 50's), decided that the f-bomb was her favorite insult too. Since we were leaving, and too old to waste anymore of my life engaging with the employees of the bar we left.
So, my recommendation is find another bar. Charleston is full of great restaurants (the nachos were weak and the single attempt i made at a burbon old fashioned we super sweet and undrinkable) good drinks (Pearlz, High Cotton, 5 Church e.g.) wonderful hospitality and this singular location...
Read moreAlright, I'm struggling with this one. I'm from chicago IL. I see a Cubs flag. I figure this will be good let do it. Well it's not bad. To start sit your self where you want. Than enjoy the abundant tv's with sports and all the enjoyment a of a chicago style bar/grill. Large booths with pub tables all around. It has a list of chicago style food. I chose a chicago style hot dog on a sesame seed bun with sweet potato tots. My wife chose the chicago style beef sandwich "with beef imported from chicago" for an authentic taste. I will be fair. My hotdog was great. I smashed that thing like I was at home. But I'm thinking because we came in late around 10pm, we got scrapped food that was put together. The hot dog was put together well but was not on a sesame seed bun. Instead it was placed on an Italian bread. The hot dog was split down the middle and all the toppings were laid on top. The beef sandwich was covered in peppers which wasn't told to us and was listed as an option on the menu. The beef looked as if it were fried in a pan rather than soaked in a pot and made to simmer. Sides were good. Now our serve is another deal and is probably why I'm giving this 3 stars and not 4 to 5. She did not show attention to the table. I had to go to the bar to get my drinks refilled. Aside from waiting 35 mins for our food. While she sat talking to people at another table. I wouldn't tell people not to eat here. But if you have a night like we did than you'll...
