This place was recommended to us and we couldn't wait to have a great burger! Well it didn't quite turn out that way... I ordered a patty melt, took about 50 minutes to get to me, but in fairness they were busy, the bread was a little burnt but I figured no big deal until I turned it over to check the other side and it was totally black! Sorry I even hated to let the waitress know, but my husband did, she took it back and shortly another one came out, I just couldn't to eat it, because I didn't trust it simply because the original one was plated with the super burnt side down clearly so I wouldn't notice it! But I did! The fries were awesome, my husband liked his burger and we were fine, all of a sudden the male bartender comes over and asks what was wrong with the burger, I said that I just didn't want it and he asked why, so I tried to explain the above, and said... I took it off your bill, so we thank you we appreciate it, and he flipped! He said... You don't have to pay for anything! in a mean scary voice, we insisted to pay and he repeated the same he had said, basically super rude and stood there as if telling us to leave, so we got up and left! My husband said, he was drunk and I don't think it's a good idea to try to reason with him, and I said, you're right I saw him doing shots with a customer, so not only did he disrespected us, but he also intimidated us and treated us in a way that no one ever should experience! Very demeaning I wanted to cry! Too dramatic for us 60+ year olds! Wish them the best, and thank you anyway. Clearly will...
Read moreAfter spending the morning exploring The Citadel and getting a deeper appreciation for Charleston’s history and military culture, we were ready for some food. We wanted something nearby, casual, and well rated, and Moe’s Crosstown Tavern kept popping up as a local favorite. We’re glad we went.
The vibe inside is exactly what you want after walking around in the Charleston heat—chill, no frills, and full of character. It’s clearly a neighborhood spot with regulars, but we felt welcomed right away. There’s sports on the TVs, a solid bar, and that cozy tavern feel without it being too dark or divey.
As for the food… surprisingly great. This isn’t just pub grub. It’s well prepared, hearty, and flavorful. The burgers are especially worth mentioning, cooked to perfection with creative toppings. Portions were generous, and the price felt fair for the quality. The fries were crispy, the wings were solid, and the daily specials actually looked tempting enough to make us consider coming back.
If you’re coming from The Citadel or just exploring that part of town, Moe’s is a solid choice to relax, recharge, and eat well. Local flavor in every sense: food, crowd,...
Read moreBeen here 6 times over the last 8 months. Absolutely the worst service every single time. Drinks will sit empty, you will get ignored, and you will be upset at the food considering the price. I asked for 3 different sandwiches on seperate occasions just to be given a burger. The one time i decided to take my girlfriend in hopes it changed we sat at a table for 30 minutes and didnt even get water.. was told "we would be right with you" more than 4 times but didnt even have a coaster or napkins given. Ended up walking out. Today was the final straw. Went with my boss for lunch. Maybe 4 other ppl in the place. Still got ignored multiple times and drinks ran empty. If you are a local then avoid this dump at all costs... go to the recovery room or juanitas for way better prices, atmosphere, service, etc. If you are a tourist (especially from Ohio) then please please by all means go to Moes...
