Came for an early dinner with some friends before a show and was not disappointed. Located in a little pocket sort of near Hampton Park, expect to spend a minute circling the block to find parking. Renzo is unassuming but light and bright in a corner spot with tables and booths and a normal bar. We were early enough for unexpected Happy Hour specials (on a Saturday) and took full advantage - meatballs and discount cocktails. Meatballs were soft and moist and flavorful with 4 per order. Miso were better than the Roman (strong sauce with almost raw garlic) but we liked both. Drinks were all solid, from Happy Hour on. Get the guava-lychee drink. The rest of the menu is split into pizzas and not pizzas and we picked a few from both. The Caesar and most other dishes are perfectly portioned for one or to share amongst a table of four. We ended up having the Caesar, two “not pizzas”, the two orders of meatballs, and two pizzas and it was perfect for our group at a great price. Some dishes were a split like/don’t like (lemony potatoes & desserts), but as a whole we didn’t have a bad bite. A great spot for a little less than a la fancy pizza & pasta dinner, Renzo delivers.

This has the potential to be good, and they were super busy. But their oven is far too hot. Which is causing the crust to burn and the toppings not getting adequate time to cook. I saw the couple nexts to me's pizza lose all the toppings as there wasn't enough cheese to hold it all together and the crust gets kind of mushy towards the center and flops it all off, the undercarriage needs work. Maybe less sauce would prevent it from being so floppy. I'd expect that oven to be over 950f. Drop the oven temp, get a good flame across the top, and it will fix this issue. I've used similar ovens, and they are hard to control, but you shouldn't be serving heavily burnt pizzas. The sauce tasted good, and the basil was good. Along with the cheese, it just needs some work to not burnthe crust a lil char is nice but not burnt.

If I am truly being honest, this review really should be a 3.5. That is to say, somewhere between "it's okay" and "I liked it". I will go back again to be fair and give them another chance, but not in any sort of rush to do so. The food and cocktails were pretty tasty, but portions were on the small side given prices. I had the street corn pizza and loved it, and we shared some unique pasta made with olive oil and honey. Odd sounding combo, but really good. Beware, there were only 5 tiny pieces though in the pasta. This is not a typical Italian American pasta dish. Service wise, we were less impressed. The bartender warmed up to us, but was more interested in the folks he recognized. Menu was a bit complicated. We had to ask our server several questions, wish he could have explained it better.

I had one of the best meals ever last night at Renzo. I’ll start by mentioning that we decided we weren’t in the mood for pizza, although I had the pizza previously. It’s gourmet, wood fired, and totally excellent. So last night we had a bunch of other things from the menu: trout app, Caesar salad, faro bread, olives, eggplant (which is downright fantastic) and the special which was a whole snapper. Oh my god, that fish was so divine! All of it, but especially the snapper. I think it had garlic, mustard, mint and cilantro on it but I can’t be certain. The combination of flavors and perfect seasoning and cooking blew us away. My two girlfriends (with whom I ate) and I were born and raised here in Charleston, and we started reminiscing about all the great places we’ve had in the city over the years. The chef at Renzo knows his/her stuff! Not to forget, great service throughout and such a cool little spot....

We had our wedding at Renzo, and it was truly everything we dreamed of and more. First of all, the space is the most romantic venue you could imagine — the lighting alone & windows create such a magical atmosphere that made the entire evening feel unforgettable.

The food was absolutely outstanding. Every single dish exceeded our expectations, and our guests are still talking about how incredible everything tasted. Huge thanks to Chef Colin for crafting such a thoughtful and delicious menu — his talent truly made the night.

A special thank you to Nayda, whose support and coordination made everything run so smoothly. From start to finish, we felt taken care of and completely at ease.

Our guests had an amazing time, and we couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate such an important day. We’re so grateful to the entire team at Renzo for making our...
