Drove to the Quaker Steak & Lube in the Corridor G Shopping Center south of Charleston WV today. My wife and I walked in and we were greeted by a smiling young woman as she grabbed a couple of menus from a large toolbox. We were seated immediately. Within a few seconds, a polite and friendly girl by the name Maddy came and took our drink order and just under a minute squared us away with drinks. She listened intently to our orders and went back to place our wants to the kitchen. During cooking time, she brought us an appetizer of Boom Boom Shrimp, sorry no photo included. Very hot, well prepared, but the sauce was a little more than what we expected. Glad we had extra napkins and moist towelettes. By time we were on the last shrimp she had refills of iced sweet tea. Maddy then collected our appetizer dirty dishes and brought out our meals. My wife had a Biker’s Chick Salad and I had a 10 count Bone in Wings with Thai ‘R’ Cracker sauce with a side of French Fries. The salad was enormous. The thin sliced chicken was spiced nicely however, cooked just a minute too long. The salad did have a nice taste and full of texture and flavors. The wings appeared to be fried. They were cooked to a good crisp and each bite was juicy inside. The sauce used was just right and had a very good taste. The French fries were hot, fresh, crispy and delicious. If you haven’t tried Quaker Steak & Lube, it’s set up like a big garage with race cars, dirt bikes, automobile memorabilia of all kinds. It’s a nice place to hang out with family and or friends. The staff was great! Keep up the good work and if your waitress or waiter does a good job, let them know. A thank you goes a long way to know they’re appreciated. Thank you for a wonderful time and experience today.

Terrific dining experience. Tremendous service, food tasted great, and the restaurant is very clean. Got the Kentucky bourbon burger, hand smashed garlic cheese curd burger, Asian sesame bone-in wings, and did the hot wing challenge. All came out quick and was served hot. Both burgers were extremely flavorful with great toppings. We got onion rings with one burger and fries with the other, both were tasty. Asian sesame wings were sweet and smoky with plenty of sauce to enjoy. The wings for the hot wing challenge, “Eat Heat Challenge”, were great; the wings were cooked perfectly. If you complete the challenge you get a t-shirt and your name on the wall. The wings were quite spicy, not the hottest I’ve had; but they’ll get your attention even if you eat crazy hot peppers like the Carolina Reaper pepper. The hot wing challenge came with a great amount of sauce, perfect for dipping fries in. The staff actively kept the restaurant clean and with all of the ornamentation around the restaurant that was dust free and clean, it’s clear they do a great job making sure your dining experience is pleasant. The waitress was terrific, super welcoming and always ready to assist whenever we needed anything. Ideal service.

Hmmm. We recently tried this restaurant during a 2-week trip to KY/WV. Had not been to a Quaker Steak & Lube before and since it was close to the hotel thought we'd give it a go. It was okay. It would have been MUCH better if the restaurant itself had been kept up since it was built. It was like so many 90s/2000s restaurant chains that had built a bunch of locations, but had failed to keep them fresh and clean. The concept is great, and the overall look is neat when you walk in, but little has been done inside or outside to keep it updated, clean, or fresh. Our food was okay, but that's all. Personally, we would not return to one of these until the chain updates it's restaurants and emphasizes cleanliness.

This was the worst meal we’ve ever paid for, anywhere. In fact, it’s the worst meal I can remember ever eating in my life, and I was in the military! I’d rather eat an M.R.E than eat at Quaker Steak & Lube! The only redeeming quality is the service team, the people are great! The food is disgusting, I wouldn’t feed it to a prisoner, it’s truly unfit for human consumption.

Atmosphere: Quaker Steak is a hellscape of filthy memorabilia that is never dusted, much less cleaned and sanitized. if you look overhead, everything is covered in 20 years of dust. The tables are sticky, the bathrooms are disgusting, and the bathroom sink had NO running water! I called the health department because of the lack of water to wash your hands in the bathroom. Sure hope their employees have HOT running water in the back of the house, and that their wait staff go all the way to the kitchen to wash between using the restroom and serving our food!

The chicken wings are a deep fried disgrace, the only people who deep fry wings are those who don’t have time to do it right… quantity over quality. You can get better wings from Husson’s or Gino’s, pretty sad when a pizza shop makes better wings than a restaurant that dedicates nearly an entire page of their menu to their wings.

The ribs were equally dry and disgusting. Imagine cooking ribs on a Friday night and forgetting they are cooking until Sunday morning, then let them sit on the counter for a week, and then attempt to reheat and serve… That’s how dry and disgusting my ribs were. Even the sauce couldn’t hydrate these ribs enough to chew, much less digest.

Their “hot” sauces are a laughing joke, anyone who gave them “awards” for their sauces needs to revisit Quaker Steak, because it’s been a minute. If you look at their awards page, any “awards” they have claim to for their sauces were decades ago, I guarantee you they haven’t won any awards recently. In fact, most of the awards are for local contests in regions during a time when the restaurant landscape was vastly different, with less competition in this space. The only award winning thing about their sauce is an award for worst ever! For every sauce on their menu, there is a better sauce on the shelf at your local grocery with real flavor (Kinder’s or Blues BBQ) and HEAT (check out Heatonist.com for REAL hot sauces). Quaker’s standard bbq sauce is absolutely disgusting, it’s basically ketchup, molasses and a TON of cinnamon. It’s literally the worst bbq sauce I’ve ever tasted. With absolutely ZERO cooking experience, you could make better sauce in your own kitchen on your first attempt using ingredients from your toilet bowl.

The coleslaw isn’t worth tasting, much less chewing and swallowing.

Back in the day I used to attend bike nights here, crazy… all that time I never tried their food. I wish I had! A food experience in 2007 would have saved me a terrible dining experience in 2025. We’ll never visit another Quaker Steak again! Then again, maybe it’s just this location. Every national chain or franchise seems to be worse...

Horrible waitress but food was good. We were at the Charleston WV location. Arrived around 4pm for an early dinner. We are a party of 6 and was told the wait would be around 15-20mins which is normal. While we were waiting we looked at menus and picked out what we wanted to order. We were seated and our waitress Kat came and said I will be back to take your drink orders in a few minutes. 15mins later she comes back and we tell her we are ready to order our drinks and food. She takes our order and says she will be right back with our drinks. 20mins later we finally get our drinks, she says sorry I'm covering two areas and your food should be out soon. While we have been waiting we notice there are two other waitresses working in our area of the restaurant and all their tables came after we set down. They all had drinks, appetizers and food orders placed before we even received our drinks! So we figured out it was not the restaurant being busy or the kitchens fault but it was clearly an issue w our waitress Kat. She comes back and wants to know if we need refills and we say no thanks and ask about the status of our food because it had been 30mins since we ordered. She tells us it's the kitchens fault because they are backed up. We wait 15mins longer and still no food. We had been setting at our table for and hour now and our food order was placed 45mins ago. I had also noticed 2 different managers out in the restaurant helping out with things so I got up and went and talked to the female manager and explained to her we had been at our table for over an hour now and it had been 45mins since we placed our food order and were still waiting. And that we had noticed every single table in our area all came in after us and had all been served and were eating! Three of those tables being larger families like us. She apologized and left to figure out the problem. Less than 5mins later the manager came to us and said your food will be out in just a few more minutes and I have given you a discount on your bill. We expressed our gratitude for her help and sure enough a few minutes later our food came out. But most of our orders were wrong and things had been forgotten so then we had to fix all the mistakes that were made. But our food was all hot, another clue that Kat had not put our food order in a timely manner. She did come back with the correct items and apologized again saying the place was busy and the kitchen messed up our order and that she was sorry. I told her that all the other tables in our area were all well taken care of in a timely manner and we were not upset with the kitchen staff at all. When my family finished eating we had been in the restaurant for over 2hrs. We decided not to tip our waitress because she dropped the...
