My guy and I were eager to eat here. We were told that it was great food with great service. To start off we ordered the crab cake as an appetizer. I noticed the cook kept looking at me. So I then started looking at him. He started scratching underneath his shirt then looked at though he took a utensil to continue to scratch under his arms. He then started scratching his face and then his neck. Now we are engaged in eye contact while he’s doing this like he just doesn’t care that I see him. You are cooking food sir, while having no gloves on you are steady scratching yourself and don’t care who’s watching. You never washed your hands. He then digs in his nose and pulls something out and flicks it. At this time I’m beyond disgusted and called over our server to let him know what I witnessed. The server went back to talk to him then he again looked at me. He never washed his hands but then put on gloves.( Buddy needed an entire bath at this point) He then told the lady cook that was back there and she turned to look at me was well. I was hoping that someone else would be able to cook my food but from the looks of it, it was just those two. They were in between shifts so our new server came over to greet us and asked if we were ready to order. I told him that we changed our minds and spoke of what I witnessed and he apologized and we high tailed it outta there. I hope management does an in depth training of the do’s and don’ts of being in that position. That’s how people get sick and things become contaminated. I will definitely let people that I know and meet about my experience at...
Read moreHad an excellent inaugural experience at CYD this past Friday. My wife and I brought our infant son out for his first restaurant experience, hoping he'd be able to make it through the meal.
I'm not into fancy cajun restaurants. CYD has canned beer, a colorful menu, and is a little loud inside, which is exactly what you want.
One issue we ran into was that they were out of a couple different types of canned beer, but they have a good enough selection that getting a substitute was easy.
Service was absolutely phenomenal from the start to the finish. Our waitress apologized as our baby started getting upset, even though in my opinion the amount of time it took the food to come out was totally reasonable. She was able to toggle us over to a to-go meal and didn't charge us for a beer we'd only gotten a sip of before leaving. There's more little touches that would make this review too long. It's great that the prices here are reasonable as you may find yourself budgeting a bit more for tipping than usual.
The food was excellent. I was really disappointed that we had to eat it to-go, as fried food suffers terribly from being steamed in Styrofoam. The fact that it was still pretty good is amazing. Special shout out to the ranch - it was quintessential. We'll be back with a better...
Read moreHow could this place get a 4...it's so awesome! 5 stars all the way. This is a quaint hidden gem with delicious authentic Cajun cuisine. I usually go to Cajun Queen because of the convenience and they also offer I standing Groupon deal but this is definitely the better of the two.
I have been here multiple times and it never disappoints. It is very small and you generally have to wait if you come here on a weekend for dinner but it is so worth the wait.
Though their specialty is Cajun food it definitely has a soul food flair. I could honestly just come here and just eat sides. They have the best cabbage I've ever had in my life and their Fried Chicken is to die for.
Tonight I opted for the special because it looked way too good to pass up and it came with two sides. It was a blackened sea bass top with blackened shrimp and a sea crab sauce. Whatever you're thinking it tasted 10 times better.
If I had to find one fault it would be that they do not have a full bar however they do have beer and wine and they have some great local beer from New Orleans. Get the Dixie Voodoo. Trust me you won't be...
