*UPDATED REVIEW (3/22/19) When I originally started going to the place the food was literally to die for and one of those “smack yo momma” good meals. Lately and especially St. Patrick’s Day weekend, the food has been HORRIBLE/ INEDIBLE!! The restaurant was filthy and they ran out of plates and utensils. I went in and ordered the same exact meal as before and it was nothing like before. The veggie meatloaf was a 5 lb block of mush and completely disgusting (I even tried to add ketchup and spices to no avail). The mashed potatoes were barely cooked all the way let alone mashed. I had whole pieces of dry, bland potatoes. The macaroni and cheese was oily and hard (adding heat didn’t help either) and just overall not good at all. After waiting for over an hour to place a to-go order and spending over $40 at this place, it’s definitely NOT worth the time anymore. I called 4 days in a row wanting to speak to a manager about the quality of the food that I received and I’ve been getting the run around since. The general staff is still nice and the only good thing they have left is their “Collard Dip” and biscuits. I would not waste my time visiting this establishment in the future with they way they run things now. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone locally or visiting from out of town!
(08/16/2018)——This was my first visit and the southern food was just simply amazing!!! Definitely something to rave about👌😋! The establishment was clean and neat along with the bathrooms. Ambiance is nice but nothing fancy or super intriguing. As of my visit the sanitation score was a 95.0. The staff was friendly and very helpful explaining the menu and offering suggestions. Now on to the food! The Collard dip was very good and had a nice smoothe texture, making it easy to spread on the pita bread. My chosen entree was the Veggie Meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy as well as a side salad with balsamic vinaigrette. This was a first for me as I'm always looking for new innovative vegetarian dishes and this dish did not disappoint! My friend chose the Beef Pot roast with mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese. Both dishes came with a deviled eggs and a 🍯 biscuit! Overall great food and great prices💸💰! Definitely becoming one...
Read moreI found this place from a “Best Brunch in Charlotte” article and decided to give it as a welcome home meal for my fiancée returning from a wedding attire fitting. I was hoping that the “crispy thighs, smothered in white pepper gravy, and flanked by two eggs, hash brown casserole, and a biscuit” would be as amazing as the writer suggested. I’ll never know.
Good news: we were seated immediately.
Bad news:
It’s smelled dank and kinda moldy in there. Any restaurant that doesn’t have at least a faint smell of food in my book either has a bomb ventilation system or is very suspect in my book. But we were very hungry.
It took at least 20 minutes for the server to come take our drink orders. An indication of what was to come.
Speaking of the sever, they were very impersonal and also had a moldy/musty scent. I decided to order the brisket skillet and was immediately told “we’re out of that.” Ok—luckily I was deciding between that and the County Breakfast so no biggie. The sever did not check on us or refill our drinks during the hour that we were there. It gets worse.
Not only did we wait an hour sipping now watered down iced tea, we never received our orders. Even us repeatedly glancing over at them didn’t entice them over to check on us or provide an update on our food. At the 55-minute mark the server strolls over with the sloppiest plated, runniest, grey matter looking “deviled eggs” I have ever seen. They mumbled something about “they are resolving an issue with the order” and I guess they were trying to offer the eggs as a consolation prize. No thanks. We suspect the order was never input because the table of 6 that came in after our party of two were halfway through their meal by the time we walked out.
When we told the server we didn’t want the eggs and were leaving they just said “ok” and took the plate back to the kitchen and dryly told them to cancel our order. All staff just looked at us walk out.
Not interested in trying this...
Read moreI rarely leave reviews, but my recent experience at this restaurant was so disappointing and concerning that it demands attention. The service was extremely slow and unprofessional from the start. The server who initially took our order never checked back on our table, and we were left waiting for over 30 minutes for a simple cheeseburger.
When I finally inquired about our order, another server—who appeared to also be the bartender—said it was “lost in the shuffle,” then proceeded to add that it would have taken that long anyway. Her tone was condescending and dismissive, as if she was doing us a favor by even responding. What made this worse was the way she carried herself—her slight attitude and sense of entitlement suggested she felt she could speak to us this way because we were the only people of color in the restaurant.
While other patrons, all of whom were non-minorities, received attentive service, friendly conversation, and prompt check-ins, our table was ignored completely. No one offered us drink refills or even acknowledged my wife. The difference in treatment was stark, uncomfortable, and unacceptable.
As the only person of color in the room, I felt discriminated against. This is not an accusation I make lightly, but it was clear from the behavior of the staff that we were treated differently. This type of conduct has no place in any establishment—especially in 2025.
This will be the last time I dine here, and I strongly urge management to investigate this matter seriously. Discrimination—whether intentional or subtle—cannot be tolerated. To any person of color considering visiting this restaurant, I advise caution. Businesses must be held accountable for the actions and attitudes of...
