Good food, even BETTER COCKTAILS! Couldn't believe the fantastic quality/value ratio. We brought two cousins who are not Offline members and had not been to this restaurant before --and now they are going to be regulars (and this will be a mandatory spot any time we visit them).

We came for brunch Saturday. They had a relatively large selection for the main menu and also several fantastic brunch specials -- all well-priced. Our server was really friendly and offered good service (I feel so bad I forgot his name. But I do remember he is originally from Mendoza, Argentina!).

We tried everything from the empanada appetizer all the way to the main entrees (enchiladas; steak platter), some tacos, and even the DREAMY churros dessert (which are actually MASSIVE, fresh, and stupid-good donuts) with an Argentinian-style dulce de leche dipping sauce (not as sweet as traditional Mexican and, quite honestly, even better/lighter).

Everything was delicious, fresh, and PERFECTLY cooked, but not traditionally spicy or authentically bold Mexican.

My enchiladas sauce was very light, even though I was expecting a richer, bolder-flavored sauce (and more cheese. I cried with how little cheese sauce they had on top). Don't get me wrong, it was great quality ingredients and very tasty, but not the traditional Mexican dish I'm used to. Would I still come back and order that same dish at this lunch price point, though? Absolutely (and just ask for it spicier and with extra Sinaloa cheese sauce on top!😍).

Conversely, my husband's steak platter was the BEST food item we ordered at our table (apart from the churro donuts perfection). CRUNCHY fries, perfectly seasoned and grilled steak, yummy sauce and sides. Uff. I want to have that main instead next time for brunch, for sure.

Now what was 5 STARS: The drinks menu. WOW. Worthy of an upscale mixologist cocktail lounge in Miami or NYC. Could not believe such a wide selection of top-shelf liquor being so readily available, and at such good price point, at such a laid-back establishment. It was the best top shelf tequila selection I've ever seen at any restaurant stateside, anywhere without going to a pricy steakhouse.

I got the PIKA PIKA cocktail - a special spicy kick, yet SMOOOOTH drink thanks to the use of more expensive REPOSADO tequila. Yet, it costs LESS than $12?!?! That same drink would be MINIMUM $25-35 in any other major metro area! I would come back just to have more of these top-shelf cocktails on a night out in lieu of going to another bar.

All in all, the main point of improvement and why I knocked one star: to make some of the staple Mexican dishes bolder and spicier (or at least offer it as an option/modification for the customer).

Still, I'd come back here all the time if we lived here -- even if just for their outstanding bar tender/mixologist and vast liquor selection. So glad Offline recommended this gem to us -- we may have never gone...

We have been coming to Que Onda Tacos for a good while and have always enjoyed their food and drinks. However, our experience this Friday was awful. The waiter was very nice, bubbly personality but the manager was the worst. We went to eat and planned to stay to have drinks after eating, so we decided to sit at the rooftop where they have the bar, not inside the restaurant. We had food and then started ordering drinks, we had not seen each other in a while so we were trying to enjoy each other's company, they were super annoying, picking up our food and packing it even when we were not done, we had just got our drinks served, and the guy was trying to bring us the check, every 3 minutes he would come and no matter if he had just brought out drinks or we had just order our food he was constantly asking if he could bring our check. They started coming to our table and picking up things and cleaning it even when we were still there, they started moving chairs and putting them almost on our back like trying to make us uncomfortable, the manager was super rude and kept indicating to the guy cleaning tables to come and clean our table. Then I ordered a Sorbet Margarita, and the manager brought it to me in a to-go cup, I did not order it to go and It was a drink with alcohol, he put a spoon on it and I asked for a straw and he said I gave you a spoon, you don’t need a straw to which I responded, I'm sorry but I like to let it melt and then drink it with a straw. His response was “Why order a sorbet if you are going to let it melt”. I was like in shock to hear his response, I had to get up and get my own straw which bothered him, and asked a guy to put the straws away.

With so many restaurants opening around and so many options I think they should be smarter in how they treat people because I am definitely not coming here again. We left a good tip for the waiter because it was not his fault but the...

This restaurant is DANGEROUS, and management DOES NOT CARE. My son and I were seated for dinner at a small indoor ground floor table when out of nowhere a knife fell head-on onto our table, just missing our heads, and barely averting a serious head injury. The loud bang sounded like an explosion, alarming us and the tables around us. The knife made a divot in the table before bouncing onto the floor. Neighboring diners came over to check on us. Apparently, the knife accidentally fell from a table located at the edge of the 2nd floor balcony directly above our table. About 5 minutes after the incident, ALEX the manager came by to apologize. He said he would give a “deep discount” on our bill, and more importantly, said he would not allow any more diners to be seated at the upstairs table until a guard rail was installed. Although it was not offered to us, my son and I moved to a different table, as we no longer felt safe at our table. During the meal, we noticed that the diners at the table upstairs had left, and new diners were then seated at the same table, despite Alex’s assurance that would not happen. I guess it was more important to fill a 2-seater upstairs than to protect customers’ safety. I brought this to ALEX’s attention, and he half-heatedly apologized once again. Our check then came with a 25% discount. I told Alex I was appalled at his lack of concern for customer safety and cluelessness about customer service. He said “that’s all I can do”, then turned and walked away. Well, all I can do now is NEVER GO THERE AGAIN, and warn the public about this DANGEROUS ESTABLISHMENT. I have never written a bad review before in my life, but this experience...

Before I came to this restaurant, I rarely liked Mexican food because the there was mostly dishes i didn't really enjoy. But that changed immediately when I saw Que Onda's menu, it was a very cozy restaurant with lots of specials and options. I had the mixed combo Taco- Shrimp and a fish to try. My favorite ended up being the Shrimp tacos, which made me happy knowing I got 2 shrimp taco and one fish. The shrimp taco was mainly my favorite because of the pineapple pico de gallo, which had a sweetish taste to it because of the glazed pineapple, instead the fish taco had coleslaw mixture with regular pico de gallo. Nevertheless it was generous amount of shrimp and fish servings with a small side of Mexican rice and refried black beans. Over all it was awesome! I also tried they blackberry juice (no alcohol) and it was great! Nicole the waitress brought it to me by mistake instead of passion fruit juice which I wanted, but I tried it anyways, it was overall a nice atmosphere and my waitress was very friendly. She did a good job.

We popped in on a Saturday night and, to our surprise, had no trouble getting a table for two, but opted for the bar. I went straight for the birria torta and wow
juicy, flavorful, and layered perfectly with pickled jalapeños and onions that gave it just the right kick and tang. Every bite was bold and delicious. My boyfriend ordered the chicken fajitas which were sizzling, smoky, and loaded with peppers and onions. Plenty of food, plenty of flavor, and the kind of dish that feels like a true classic done right. The bartender was so friendly and welcoming, adding to the easy, laid-back vibe. And the sorbet margarita was light, sweet, tangy, and the perfect refreshing finisher on a summer night. The whole place has a cozy, casual vibe that makes you want to stay awhile, and the food feels authentic, hearty, and full of care. Definitely a new go-to in the Plaza area!
