As a longtime fan and regular patron of Due Amici, I’ve always admired the cultural depth and authenticity of the Italian cuisine served here. The ambiance typically reflects a warm, welcoming environment, and I’ve especially appreciated the relationships I’ve built with some of the staff who go above and beyond. For years, I’ve supported this establishment — dining here twice a week, tipping generously, and spreading positive word-of-mouth.
However, I feel compelled to share that my most recent experience was disappointing and frankly disheartening. As someone who has invested time, money, and loyalty into this restaurant, I left feeling unvalued and uncomfortable. What I encountered felt less like a reflection of the Due Amici I’ve grown to respect and more like a disregard for the diverse customer base that supports it.
What troubled me most was the choice of media playing publicly during my visit — specifically a film prominently featuring men in dresses. While I fully understand the importance of artistic expression and diverse content, I believe certain media choices are better suited for private settings rather than public dining areas where families and a wide range of guests are present. The selection seemed out of place and, for me personally, took away from the experience I’ve come to enjoy.
Additionally, the food and service this time did not meet the usual standards I’ve come to expect. As a paying customer who continually supports this business, I am not looking for special treatment or handouts. My only ask is that the management consider the environment and values of the loyal community that continues to walk through those doors and spend their hard-earned money each week.
Due Amici has long been a place I proudly supported, and I sincerely hope this feedback can be received not as criticism, but as a call for awareness and respect for all patrons. I believe in the mission and legacy of this restaurant, and I hope to see it continue to thrive — while making sure every guest feels equally welcomed and considered.
Respectfully, A loyal and...
Read moreI’ve never been so disregarded and disrespected by a place of business. This would have been our first time trying the food. From what I hear, it’s authentic NY style pizza but they clearly lack in customer service. I ordered pizza & was given a number to place in the dashboard of my car & told the pizza would be brought to my car in about 35 minutes. I went to the store & came back, waited in my car for a good 10 minutes as the employees continued to bring out orders. I understood how busy they were at the time, but after 20 minutes, I called & gave them my order number & let them know I hadn’t received my order. I was hung up on. After another 5 minutes, I called back, gave them my info, nothing. I had to wait out in the cold, as the manager/owner continued to bring orders outside. As the manager brought out another order & was headed back inside I attempted to ask him about my order. He completely dismissed me & walked back in the store. Other customers saw what happened & couldn’t believe he completely disregarded me. In the climate of today, it only leads me to believe why he felt he could dismiss me & treat like that. I’ve experienced bad customer service, but none have led me to write a review, & also to this extent. To top it all off, I asked for a refund, I paid with a card, he gave it back in cash. He didn’t hand me the money btw, and when I checked the cash once I got home, he shorted me. I left there feeling like this man felt I was less than and beneath him. He showed no decency or common courtesy. I can only hope this doesn’t happen to...
Read moreLet me start off by saying that my review is solely based off of the customer service, I've never had their food before, but after this experiences I don't ever plan on going back.
According to Google as we all can see they close at 8, I arrived there at 7:40 and one of the staff members said to me that they stop taking orders at 7:30 and turned my business away. This extremely frustrating to me because, I am very big on customer service and in my opinion it is very important to treat every customer the same because you never know who could be walking through your doors. I don't care if I walked in 30 minutes before you closed or 5 minutes before you closed, I should've still been serviced.
This is a pizza shop not a 5 star restaurant where everything is made fresh to order, all I wanted was 2 slices of pizza which would've took them 5 minutes to heat up, but they didn't even bother to even ask me what I wanted to order. I don't care how good they're food is and I guess now after tonights experience I'll never know, but I do not spend my money in places where I feel like my business is not valued, and to be honest it probably doesn't even taste like real NY pizza, because I was born and raised in NY and I don't know not one NY pizza shop that's not selling pizza right up till the last second before they close.
So just as a heads up, if you ever plan on eating here make sure you get your order in 30 minutes before they close otherwise you will...
