A group of 5 friends and I visited this establishment for a meal. When we sat down the waitress did come to take our orders and everyone asked for a glass of water while deciding on a meal. The waitress then pointed to a cooler of water and small plastic cups in the back corner and instructed us to get our own water. We were confused but decided it must be some type of protocol the bar was following. Some time later we saw another table being served with full size restaurant cups full of water. Confused, one of my friends asked the waitress why is it that the other table was served their water as well as in full sized cups. She proceeded to say that the water came from the same cooler but the waitress from the other table just served them in restaurant cups. This was confusing because why would the staff not all be under the same guidelines when serving drinks or water? Once the food came out everyone was satisfied and enjoyed their meal until the checks came out. Upon being seated and looking at the menu we did notice that automatic gratuity was added to the checks for parties OVER 6 people. When examining the check I noticed that the waitress keyed in that there were 7 guests at the table. I mentioned to the waitress that there were only 6 guests at our table and she offered to get the manager and I agreed. My friend spoke with the manager and showed him the website and the quote where it was stated that automatic gratuity was added for parties OVER 6 guests. The manager then proceeded to say that it has always been gratuity added for 6 guests. We were confused when the website clearly stated OVER 6. We also showed the manager where the waitress put 7 guests on the check in order to trigger the automatic gratuity for the bill. If that was the proper protocol that 6 guests was automatic gratuity then why did she falsify the guest count? The manager refused to remove the gratuity and continued to state that they had always charge gratuity for parties of 6 instead of OVER 6 as it stated on the website. All in all the gratuity was no big deal, it was mainly the principal that the waitress did not want to serve us water in restaurant glasses and acted as if small plastic cups were normal for a meal when other tables had full size glasses. Honestly the waitress did not deserve our tips being that she only took our order and came to the table when we called for her. Kitchen staff brought the food to our tables so she did not serve us our meals either. Overall the meal was good and I gladly paid for what I ate, but if getting over on patrons by forcing a gratuity is the only way this bar will make money they will never get anymore from me. I will never return and I hope those that do pay close attention to their checks so they are not forced to tip for...
Read moreWe went for the first time for brunch. When we walked in, there were two other parties standing and waiting. The only staff seen were two bartenders who occasionally looked at us and then continued what they were doing. I eventually walked over and asked if we were to seat ourselves and they said yes. It would have been nice if they could have at least gestured or said something. So, whatever, not a problem - the restaurant isn’t totally packed and we seat ourselves. We sit for 20 minutes before someone throws menus on the table and rushes on without even collecting a drink order or saying ANYTHING at all. After another 10 minutes we try getting the attention of another server passing by and she says she will not assist us as she is in another section - she says she’ll find someone for us, asks another server who is passing by who brusquely states she is busy right now and continues on. At this point, we are trying to order at the bar when a server finally approaches us, 45 minutes after seating. She takes our order, we also ordered a mimosa tower. After another 25 minutes pass, we still do not have our drink and we inquire about it. At first she says we didn’t order one (we specifically came for this), then she states they ran out. We ask when we might expect one and how long it may be. Server says we might not get one and just because we ordered it doesn’t mean we’ll get it. We ended up cancelling our order (which we’re pretty positive was not even sent to the kitchen), and leaving. I have never had such a poor experience at a restaurant - from negligent waitstaff to horrific wait times and zero communication. We will not...
Read moreI went with 5 friends for dinner for a total of 6 people at the table. Our waitress made us get our own water out of a cooler with little 6oz cups, while other waitresses brought there tables water in regular restaurant cups. I asked the waitress why were we being treated differently and she had no answer. My friend had to get up and get her own napkins. The waitress also tried to pull a fast one on our table thinking we wouldn’t catch it. As I stated earlier there were only 6 people at our table and she input that there were 7 at our table. On the website it’s states parties of more than 6 have gratuity added on automatically. Once we realized what the waitress was trying to do we asked for the manager. The manager tried to defend the waitress saying “it’s always been automatic gratuity for tables with 6 or more.” I pulled up the website and asked the manager to read out loud what their website says and I asked him does he think we are ignorant. The manger had no answer for my question. The waitress did not do anything for our table to receive that amount in tips. Worst customer service I’ve received in Charlotte and if you’re there drinking be sure to check your receipt before paying because they will try to add gratuity onto your check. The only positive about this place is their wings are really good and that’s why I gave...
