Last night we went out to Legion and ordered a charcuterie board I can’t stop thinking about. Not in a mind-blowing, astounding sort of way but more in a crostini confusion sort of way. There were two log shaped hunks of cheese probably cut from a Costco sized bar of cheese. This was okay, it’s a brewery, you know? But then there were only five pieces of crostini for all this cheese, pickled vegetables, meats, and sauces.
The sauces? They were great - some kind of bacon jam situation, spicy honey, and ground mustard, which seemed homemade. We loved the pickled vegetables! The meat selection was pretty hefty and there was an addition of stuffed peppers, which must be the mysterious source of the goat cheese descriptor. Who truly knows, but five crostinis from a ratio perspective is seemingly criminal. One crostini was 50% a hole so more accurately we could conclude there were 4.5 crostinis. We asked for more and were given some delicious pita bread, which was soft and pillowy but for a charcuterie board you really want a mash up of textures. The people want more crostinis!
Apart from that saga, the rest of the food was pretty tasty. My boyfriend did say his burger was a little rare, describing it as “soft” when paired with an untoasted bun but the Midwesterner in me said it seemed weird to toast a potato bun. It didn’t come with a side and I think it should for the price. I had a wrap with some funky sauce and it was comically large, which I liked.
The atmosphere was also pretty spacious and accommodating with areas inside and outside so kids and dogs could also hang out. It is a little loud but they don’t blast music or have the television on full volume so the primary source was people conversing. We did take the very last parking spot but this was after unsuccessfully trying to find parking at two other breweries! Lastly, the employees were really attentive, helpful, and knowledgeable, so we’ll...
Read moreActually I was quiet surprise this place was tuck back in a neighborhood I grew up in as child. I was thinking a quick little walk for a lot people who live near by plus close to the downtown stadium. First, I must stay there is lots of parking space that you don't have to pay to enjoy some brew, wine, food and the company of good people. Zack was our server and they knew what to recommend from the menu. I'm not a big fan of beers since it probably was my third time drinking one. I went with the sparkle beer with a strawberry basil added syrup to knock a little sweet taste. I also had the chicken salad wrap which was good and a lot. I did order a side of potato salad not a fan at all. My husband had the Morehead Monster burger and it was a beast filled lots of meat and flavor. My parents dish was fantastic too. Everything was good for our first time going they even was having a corn hole tournament two weeks later which we went too as well. If you need a nice laid back brewery with a meal here...
