McAlister's Deli — Restaurant in Charlotte

The chicken salad sandwich (one of the ONLY things I order when I go here!) was flattened to the width of a pancake and the salad was sparse. If I'd never had this before, I may have just thought it was odd, or their way of making a croissant.....or someone new maybe pressed it like a panini instead of the toasted croissant that it was supposed to be? I ordered it for pick up but decided to eat inside. I was quite surprised at the appearance but was hungry and decided to bit into the first half. Just last weekend I had had the same thing at a different location. There was SO much chicken salad on the sandwich that I physically couldn't fit it and the croissant in my mouth and had to remove some of the chicken salad. This time.....it was not only hard to find much salad between the squished croissant, but the pastry was flat and more like a leathery tortilla flaky texture. Surely a manager would want to know about this mediocrity and I went up with my remaining 1/2 to show them and mention that they forgot the pickle on the side (not a big deal, but now I was seeing how they were really not only sloppy, and careless, but also forgetful! The young girl taking the order said they would take care of it. In a few minutes she brought out my pickle on a platter! LOL. I assumed someone was in the back re-making my other 1/2 of my sandwich so I continued to wait for it. When it had been over 10 minutes, upon checking......was told that the sandwich had the correct items on it! THAT was not the point (and if it DID, then ALL the other locations that I usually go to put on about 3-5x more chicken salad on THEIR sandwiches than this one! I could NOT believe what I heard. It was so visibly flattened that no one could have argued it was made poorly. There was no pile of sandwiches, no other people eating who may have taken my bag and sandwich and drove their car over it and then set it back on the shelf, no.....someone in the kitchen made it incorrectly and Adrian the manager had NO desire to make it right, nor did she ASK how she could make it better! So, as she happened to walk past, I asked her name and told her that it was going on the review that I was busy typing up. Welllll......I guess she decided to scramble and do something lest she get a bad review. A few minutes later she returned to the table all sweet acting and gave me a card for a free pick 2 next visit. REALLY!?!? I did not need that or want that....I just wanted my chicken salad croissant recognizable and made correctly! To try to save face, she gives me the card.....and then as I walk out says...."have a blessed day!" REALLY? don't tell me to have a blessed day after you've been uncooperative and incapable as a manager. I know good help is hard to find, I noticed that the place was pretty empty......now I know why. Don't bother with this location....they don't care. Ballentyne or Matthews will provide you with a consistently...

NOT GOING BACK!!!

Normally the food is really good and I enjoy it, but I went today and the food was not edible. I got the choose two spud max and the veggie sandwich. I asked for no meat on the spud max because I am vegetarian, but still want the olives, green onion, and cheese. When it came out I got a potato with only olives on the side. I nicely asked the waitress if I could have the onion and cheese that I was supposed to get on it and she gave me real sass. When she brought it out it still did not have the green onions on it, but it was 3 and I was having a late lunch so I was hungry. She had put in my order and told me how I should have just asked for a cheese potato, but I did not even get that! And to make it even better the food was awful. Since it was 4th of July week I guess there was not as many customers and it was obvious that they had just reheated the food. I first tried my sandwich and the avacado on it was so old it made me throw up. Obviously this location needs to get it together. The new staff that they have is awful. I am not a person that writes reviews, but I think it is important to get the word out. I did not ask for a refund, but if anyone goes there and gets the same treatment I would totally ask for one if I weee you. Hope this...

The food was amazing (and super filling), the service was even better (even though we ordered online for pickup). Since living within a mile of here since it opened, I’ve eaten here probably 5 times, but decided to give it another try after getting a chance to look at the menu and amazing prices during free tea day yesterday. I came back today and LOVED the buffalo chicken nachos, they very kindly put all the toppings separately to the chips and dips for a to go order. My sister got the French dip sandwich and she loved it too. And of course the half spuds are giant and the peach mango tea is amazing. The service is amazing too, yesterday during tea day the two ladies working the front counter were super friendly and even though they were clearly very busy making free tea for everyone, they still offered it to every customer who didn’t order one. When I came to pick up my teas, I was blown away by the service and then the menu, so I specifically made Friday night plans around dinner here. It’s also not busy at all from what it looks like most days, so hopefully they stick around bc I’ll be coming here with the...
