I was cool with the spot but once they started doing pay to play for karaoke, it kind hurt my feelings. I used to go there an the d.J's would never budge on pay to skip the line. If you don't have a passion for the craft, don't do the job, you never know what, that one karaoke song, some shy person who normally doesn't sing karaoke or is not outgoing, that's their platform to let loose You don't know that you could literally save somebody's life by letting them do that. One karaoke song. If it's your standard to let people skip the line let it be known from the front. If that's the regular practice, let it be known. It's no different for me. If you do automatic gratuity at establishment. To see multiple people get skipped that have came before the other people signed up on the sheet and waited patiently to sing their song to only get pushed to the side by somebody who has more money than them is kind of sucks. Everybody doesn't necessarily have the budget to spend the extra money or spend extra money on drinks.Or what have you just to wait around to sing their song. They really don't have food as far as I know of it's privately owned, so i'm sure nobody really cares. But I just had to make a review because of my experience there today.Nobody.I have a great time and I see a lot of people that I know i'm not trying to cause a strife, but at the end of the day, if that's how you guys play just be honest. And don't have people sitting around waiting, hoping to sing their song or participate is something that they usually wouldn't do. They don't have food that I know of it's probably old.So nobody probably really cares about my post.I just had to make a review of my recent experience at this...
Read moreHave had some great nights here, but have been less impressed as of late. Drink prices are about the same as being at the Fillmore. $11.50 for a can of craft beer is too much. Made worse by not having prices listed anywhere. A few months when I went they had a menu, but when I checked out everything was $1-$2 more. I asked about it and they said the menu was outdated, so I guess no menu is maybe improvement? Also I left my tab open one night and they added a 42.5% markup. I thought about disputing with my bank because their sign that literally reads “30ish percent will be added to tabs left over night” seems illegal, or perhaps just scummy.
Where it’s really gone down hill recently in my opinion is security. They just need 1 single employee to monitor the inside crowd during a show, and not just during the headliner. Too often there has been a bad apple and the employees just don’t care or aren’t there to notice. For example: dude kissed 2 different random people who were not interested, then proceeded to attempt to mosh but kept putting people in headlocks and running around, leading to someone’s head hitting the ground. Where the security? Who knows. Another show I went to the performer legit had to say to a guy in the crowd, “dude can you please act nice? You’re killing the crowd” and then a couple songs later, “can someone make this guy play nice?” Was a bit embarrassing to be honest. Can almost guarantee that guy won’t be rushing to perform in Charlotte again, or at least...
Read moreDefinitely WAS my favorite bar. Great place where everyone can feel welcomed or at least it used to be. Hasn't been the same kind of atmosphere in a while. Things have changed like any other place, but the most noticeable change is where the parking used to be. It used to be infront or on cvs, and now you either get a boot placed on your car or it is towed away if you park there. snugs know that but chooses not to advertise to new comers or to people who haven't been there in a while not to park there. Of course they would rather have their guests spend 100-250$ on a boot or towing ticket than on their drinks. Of course its not their fault why cvs has chosen to "enforce" the towing rule while every building has the same signs as them and have had it since the beginning but still choosing not to bring awareness is just as bad. Honestly will say i really wont be...
