What an awful experience, one star is one too many. The new owner is not a good person. I used to eat here once a week for lunch when it was under the management of the previous owner, Jimmy. Always good- not great, but good. He has retired, and NOTHING is the same. Most of the old people are gone. New decor is nice, though. Went for lunch today and the salad looked horrible. Decomposed pieces of lettuce and greens, brown liquid in the bottom. I sent it back. The server came back and said they couldn't cut any new lettuce until 5pm, but she looked thru it and made another salad. Worse than the first one. The hostess came by, looked at what I had and was appalled, so she took it back and made another one. Worse than both of the first two- almost liquified pieces of red leaf. I said I've lost confidence in the food quality, and i just wanted to pay and go, the server said she would get the manager. He, the new owner, came to my table and asked what was the trouble. I explained and showed him. He said "you did this the last time you were here, right?" I had no idea what he was talking about. He said something about me getting a to go order and complaining- I have NEVER ordered take out from there, and I told him so. He said "yes you did," calling me a liar. I told him he must have me confused with someone else. Called me a liar again. I told him the only other issue I've ever had there before was plastic in my country style steak. Twice. He nodded, and said, "yeah, you did that," clearly insinuating that I put the plastic in my own food. This is when I was still trying to pay him for the grossly substandard food I was served, because I didn't want anything free from them after being called a liar. He shoved my money back at me and told me if he ever saw me there again he would call the police. So being served partially rotted salad is apparently the fault of the customer. Do yourself a favor and don't ever step foot in this nasty excuse for a restaurant. They are going to make some people very sick. If visible rot and decay isn't enough to prevent them trying to serve it to you, how do you think the things that aren't as visible, like food temps and sanitation are handled? I can guess. And their 94 sanitation score should have been a clue. Jimmy, we miss you. I hope you enjoy your well deserved retirement. But your cousin is quickly going to drive the nice place you built right into the ground. What an inexcusable way to treat an 18 year...

My daughter wanted spaghetti, waffles, and french fries. Right around the corner, we found a spot that had all three: Skyland Family Restaurant. When we went to order, she wanted everything on the menu, and my son eats everything, so that worked out. I planned to split it all onto separate plates.
He wanted to sit by me so he of course crawled over the table and my daughter went under the table to sit with my husband. Then chaos broke out even more as soon as the food hit the table. I couldnโt separate the food on plates fast enough. I couldnโt cut the spaghetti up and get it on the spoon and into their mouths quickly enough. My son wanted my daughters food and vise versa. We swapped and swamped it around again.. I couldnโt get the syrup on the waffle until my son was just covered in sticky syrup and spaghetti. They were grabbing and shoveling it in. My son was screaming because he wants to feed himself. Napiks, syrup, noodles, and water was flying everywhere, all at the same time. Complete, absolute chaos. All my husband and I could do was laugh at the situation. We both looked and felt defeated.. I felt people looking at us and I couldโve crawled under the table to hide. It was that hectic! It wasnโt fun at the time, but as a bystander, Iโm sure it was probably comical to watch.
Finally, they both started to slow down. We could take a breath and get the check to pay, except there was no check. The cashier told us that our bill had been taken care of. We asked if we could thank whomever paid, but the cashier told us they had already left and wished to remain anonymous. The generosity of a stranger paying for our meal was such a heartwarming surprise after a long week and a overwhelming chaotic experience.
Iโm sharing all this to say, acts of kindness, no matter how big/small, can have a significant and uplifting impact on others, especially during challenging times. Thank you anonymous person, you made my heart happy tonight. Looking forward to the first chance I get to pay it forward! โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ

ย ย ย Read moreTonight I went to Skyland with my family. I ordered the feta omelette, no tomatoes because I was told it had came with feta and tomatoes. The food came and it had onions in it but I didnโt see any feta cheese. I found our waitress, Shondra, and let her know my omelette doesnโt have any feta, only onions. She said, โYes, it does.โ I said, โNo, it doesnโt. I donโt see any feta in it, only onions.โ She said, โitโs crumbles and itโs in there because I saw him make it.โ I immediately thought you had time to watch him make it? But I continued, โI swear it doesnโt have feta, come look. But thereโs onions too.โ She said, โWell, it comes with onions.โ I was confused and didnโt like the way she was going back and forth about what I had ordered. She came over to the table and said, โI mean, I can have him make it again.โ I knew by the time it came everyone else would be finished. I ended up getting my order to go but how she spoke to me and left I didnโt trust what she was going to tell the cook and to eat my omelette. Afterwards, I got the ticket and when paying told the manager I didnโt have a good experience and I was going to pay for my omelette but didnโt trust it to eat it. I also left a 17-18% tip, rounding everything to $50. If Iโm spending $50 on food and service I expect the food to be correct and to have a good experience. The manager asked me to wait 5 minutes that he was going to remake the omelette. I really thought that was nice of him. He said he would speak to her later too. I got home, started to eat my omelette and I bit into an onion. (Throws hands up in the air) There were only a few small pieces but still. I feel like it was done on purpose. I left such a high tip despite the service because everyone elseโs food was correct and I know that servicing the public is hard. However, I will not be going back. I work hard for my money and wonโt gamble on the...
