Slim Chickens — Restaurant in Charlotte

Went here today for the first time ever visiting a Slim Chickens and I have to say I was amazed! First off, let me start by saying I am a huge fried chicken fan and as a regular of Bojangles ,Chic Fil a ,and PDQ. Bojangles has been letting me down lately since the Pandemic. And the chicken tenders Bo's gives you are super tiny and mostly breading. I am happy to have found something so amazing. I got and can highly recommend the 5 piece chicken combo with fries and Texas toast. They give you giant pieces of chicken I would say 1 Slim chickens piece = 3 Bojangles Pieces. I was only able to eat 2.5 tenders and half my fries and 1 piece of toast. I chose not to get a sauce of my chicken this time and tries the sauces on the side. They have tons of sauces and allow you to get your chicken cooked in it or just as a dipping sauce. Everything i got was nice and crispy even the fries. The fries perfect, golden and right amount of salt. The chicken pieces were great white meat tender pieces and no weird chewy parts like I often get with Bojangles. I have to say this was the best fried chicken I've had in Charlotte. I will be going here from now on. Way better food, better service, better atmosphere, better prices. 10/10

*Update 3/15 well I've been back now 3 more times and everything has been great! This is my new spot I will never go back to Bojangles again. It's not even comparable tbh. I would rate them in different categories. I love slim chickens!

Have now been to this Slim Chickens location about 15 times and a few days ago was my first order issue I've had yet. Wasn't a big deal but It seems that I was accidently given the wrong meal and unfortunately I did not look at it until I got home as I always get takeout. I called and spoke with Manager John, he was very nice and assured me it was no issue and would be taken care of next time I was in. Today I went back, asked for John and as promised he took care of another order for me and went above and beyond to assure my satisfaction. In less than a minute my food was out and I felt satisfied with my experience with how they handled a customer service experience. Management is wonderful here. I’ll kick this off by telling you my current favorite thing on the menu: the 5 tender (Slim Meal) tossed in sweet chili with a side of garlic parmesan to dip it in! Simply incredible. Give it a try and give this a thumbs up if you like it LOL. Now… this place is a welcome addition to an area where there aren’t enough chicken restaurants (light sarcasm). What isn’t sarcasm: if given the choice between Slim Chickens, the Lord’s Chicken (which shamelessly donates to anti-LGBTQ groups) or Charlotte’s own BO TIME (still a favorite but there’s enough in city) to remain here I would be inclined to say this place! We’ve been here about 5 times now, but the first time we had it I described it to friends as chicken on par if not better than Zaxbys with Chick-Fil-A type service. Sounds far-fetched. And even though I can report the food quality has been fairly consistent, the service is a bit confuzzling. Indeed, we have experienced high level service… but one time we came through the line and the guy who took our order called me “mam” twice while also texting on his phone (among other oddities — he seemed confused a lot so it’s possible he was stoned 😂). So… keep an open mind on what you might experience. As of now, lines for the drive thru are still super long but that’s just a testament to how delicious the food is. My favorite part about this chain (aside from the odd name and branding) is their sauce game. All of the sauces I’ve tried are absolutely fantastic. I love the fact they include Texas toast as a side. And the dessert jars are where it’s at (you even get a souvenir mason jar to keep). I’d highly recommend this spot even if it might mean being called mam (when you’re a guy) and waiting in line a little longer than...

3/10/23 I placed an online order. I pulled around to drive thru and ordered an additional side salad. I told staff that I had a mobile order. They tell me I have to come inside to pick it up. Now what sense does that make when I have a drive thru order also? The mobile order was already prepared and bagged up. The staff kept saying there’s nothing I can do, you just need to come in. The employee then closes the window and walked off. When I asked to speak to a manager, the energy changed. My mobile order was brought to me with a smirk. It irritates me when people come to work and don’t actually want to work. You signed up for the job and clocked in for the shift. Don’t want to work?? Stay home! The business offers mobile orders. Follow through with the process or don’t offer the “service”.

3/14/23 I returned to Slim Chickens and purchased a chicken sandwich meal with a sweet tea and an extra order of fries. I sat in line about 10 min. Order was accurate but fries were cold and hard as if they were picked out of a glacier. Staff members can be seen congregating, laughing and touching their faces in the kitchen. Maybe if you all focus on faster food and safe food temperatures, you could receive better reviews. Oh, let’s not forget about the sweet tea. They must’ve missed the sweet and the tea part. More like brown water and a pinch of sugar. Don’t ever order the tea. Just get a cup of water instead. At least it’s identifiable and cheaper.

I will only stop here if other fast food options have long lines or are closed.
