As an avid Snooze recommender for another location, this place was disappointing. We were on our way to the airport, I know I know, but we planned PLENTY of time.
We got on the wait list as soon as possible, awesome feature through Yelp. We arrived and had to wait about 15 minutes past the allotted, estimated time. Admittedly, this was the first time I had experienced this, as most estimates are accurate. Not sure what was happening.
When we were sat, we told the host that we had a plane to catch, but there was plenty of time before we needed to leave based on Snooze having always had food out fast. We also knew what we wanted to eat and ordered breakfast with our drink. 7 minutes later, my coffee comes without creamer. We inquired and out server said yup. Yup. Not it will be right out, or oh I'm sorry for forgetting it, but yup.
The table next to us, finished and it was being cleaned by the host that sat us. He asked about everything and we told him it wasn't really great, and he said it was because of Covid and things getting back to normal. We told him it had been 13 minutes since I asked for creamer, and 20 minutes sit we sat and my wife still didn't have her latte.
He looked into it and the server immediately brought out my creamer and then came back with her latte. I mean, 20 minutes and we only got one drink. That's not acceptable. Drinks are a massive gauge on tips. Okay, everyone has a bad day. But we still didn't have our food after 30 minutes when we ordered only 2 minutes after we were sat. The food finally came out.
It was exactly what we ordered, except cold or luke warm. Meh. It seemed to have been sitting for awhile, especially since it had been so long since we ordered. We ate it cause we were hungry, and we're just going to pay and leave. However the manager came over and talked to us and was not happy that we were not happy. She was very interested in how it went. She listened to our concerns, especially how we were Snooze customers from another state and what we expected of Snooze.
She apologized and grabbed the check and said she would take care of it. We told her that we ate most of it and would pay, as that was not why we were bringing the concerns to her. But she was adamant that she would cover it. We thanked her.
As we were finishing, I noticed that the bread was rye, not wheat as I asked. And my wife also pointed out that the table I spoke of earlier, didn't finish their meals either. She said they picked at it flipped over some items, shared it with the other, and then didn't touch it again. Maybe theirs wasn't hot enough either.
Oh by the way, in regards to the 20 minutes and only having one drink, it gets worse. That was the only drink we had. We were never asked if we wanted another latte or a coffee refill. So for the entire time we were there, we were served one drink. ONE.
We WANT to go back as we like Snooze. But our server was unfriendly, didn't seem to want to be there, and possibly checked out. Maybe we just won't go to her...
Read moreI really enjoy Snooze. The food is quite good, the atmosphere is fun, they have a nice patio, and the staff is very friendly. The menu has some great takes on classics with some tex-mex inspired dishes and creative pancakes throughout. It's hard to imagine someone not finding something that they enjoy eating.
There are a couple instances that keep me from giving Snooze that fifth star. First story...We ordered takeout one morning, and the food wasn't ready until 15-20 after the time time window. The strange part is that they use an automated system for ordering and estimated wait times. When I arrived at the end of my estimated time window, there were several others that were waiting to pick up food that also had this same problem. It's almost like the automated system isn't estimating correctly. Additionally, after getting my food, it was missing a dish. The staff very quickly corrected that, and I consider their quick resolution as a positive. These things happen. I'm glad I checked before I left though.
Second story... We went to eat in person one morning, and used the wait list app. It gave us an estimated time, and again it was about 15 minutes behind what it said. I fully understand that it's just an estimate, but when we were showed to our table, it was not out on the patio like we entered in the wait list, but inside the restaurant. The lovely staff quickly went to the computer, adjusted our table, and showed us to the patio. The patio was nearly empty as it had been when we walked up to the restaurant (you can see the patio from the street behind). It just seemed to me that the computer software didn't account for the fact that we were looking for a patio table, and had it done so, we could have been seated right away.
I'm not trying to be a Mr. Complainy Complainerson here. I just want to be honest in my assessment. I can't stress enough that these are small complaints, and it really seems like some fine-tuning of the software would fix the problem. I would still very much recommend Snooze to anyone looking for a delicious breakfast or brunch. My favorites are the cinnamon roll pancakes, OMG french toast, and breakfast tacos, but you can't go wrong with pretty much anything...
Read moreThis particular snooze needs better service compared to the other snooze restaurants in the area, as well as the others we have visited in other cities outside of Charlotte. My family and I arrived early to beat the morning rush and were seated immediately at the table in front of the kitchen door. We made our order and waited about 30-35 minutes for our food; I also noticed that at least two parties who arrived and ordered after us received their food before us. After receiving our food, it looked like it had been sitting for a while, was lukewarm, and the bacon was burnt. Instead of sending the food back, we decided to eat because our children were hungry, and we didn't want to make them wait any longer. The kitchen was noisy, and servers were constantly moving around us. With that in mind, I thought the service would be excellent. However, it wasn't. We only saw our server twice, once to take our order and once to give us our receipt. One waitress who was not our waitress passed by, noticed my empty cup, and asked if I wanted a refill. At this point, I was disappointed and was ready to go. My family and I finished our meal, prepared our table to leave, and waited another 15-20 minutes until we received our check. Despite the service and the food being less than par, I still tipped 20%. I only tip because I have friends and family who work as waitresses, and I have been told that most servers don't give good or excellent service to African Americans because of the stereotype that we, as a whole, do not tip as well. The hostess who sat us and the servers should be more cognizant of the patron's wait time and service at this establishment and make...
