My sister and I had been here with a group in the past. They raved about how great the “for the table” experience was where you pay a set amount and they bring out a bunch of food. We were looking forward to coming back and trying it. We came back with a group of 5 and the total was $55/person or $275 total.
Service started off a bit slow but it was a busy Friday night so we understood. My friend ordered an espresso martini and asked if it could have some Baileys in it. Server said it would be an extra $6, which was fine with her, but set the tone for feeling like we were being overcharged.
This is the food that came out and the itemized prices if we hadn’t been doing the “for the table” experience: focaccia ($9), marinated olives ($9), Burrata ($18), spicy soppressata pizza ($19), bucatini Nero ($29), caramelle ($28), Brussels sprouts ($9), and roasted half chicken ($31). All the food we received would have came to a total of $152 if ordered regularly.
At that point the server started clearing our plates from the table. We asked if there was more food coming and were informed there was just dessert. I asked if we could have another pizza or something. We were still hungry at that point. His response was “yeah of course you can have more food if you order it”. I asked if we would have to pay, which he said yes.
At that point we were frustrated and didn’t see any value in doing the curated menu. We didn’t need it to be a great deal but at the very least expected to break even. We asked if he could change the bill to itemized and cancel the desserts that were coming. We ordered the extra pizza we had wanted.
The manager could see that we were frustrated and came to check on us. She told us she would comp the last pizza. She was very nice and seemed apologetic about everything.
The bill came out and the pizza hadn’t been comped which lead to a slightly awkward interaction where we had to ask the server to take the bill back to his manager.
Overall the food was great! I wish we had gotten to try more of it. If we did go back we definitely wouldn’t do the chef curated menu again. We would also avoid...
Read moreWent during Queens feast. I’m a fairly picky eater so my score isn’t on taste so much (it wasn’t for me) as the rest of my table mostly enjoyed their food. Our server was also great and the atmosphere, while a little cramped, is really nice.
However, they have the frustrating policy of “everyone” must order from the $45 queens feast if one person does. So immediately I was paying $45 for what would have been $34 on the regular menu. Again, my experience based on my tastes, everyone else got food that matches or exceeded the $45 price.
I get that if I would have order a pizza and a pasta it would have been a better price, but that’s not what I wanted. I also didn’t want desert so I guess that made my meal closer to $44 with the desert I gave away to someone else. Still under the $45 though.
Here’s the real issue and why I gave it 3 stars, instead of maybe 4. I ordered the Blackened Pepper pasta meal. It looked great in pictures and I was excited. When it came it looked darker than the pictures but I also understand the pepper likely darkened it a bit.
The pieces of meat were incredibly tiny and extremely over cooked. So much so that when I took a bite, it actually hurt my teeth to chew it. It was like eating a a piece of really tough jerky. I tried a couple other bites but my entire mouth was hurting. Not to mention the meal was so packed with pepper that I couldn’t taste another thing.
The waiter was great and switched out my pasta for another dish but by that point it hurt to chew anything and I ended up taking it to go (and forgot it at the table).
Again, I’m not saying the place is terrible as I’m the only one who had trouble and everyone else at least was ok with their food, however I wouldn’t return and this is probably my last Queens Feast I’ll ever do. The value has slide heavily...
Read moreLove Indaco, not a fan of their staff/customer service. After 3 experiences at this location (we’ve visited the Charleston location as well), I am turned off by the staff’s lack of customer service and overall respect for their customers.
Right now, I have gone twice during the current COVID-19 pandemic. I understand they are doing as much as they can to keep their business going/open and follow the new mandated rules around face masks (to be worn at all times in a restaurant unless sitting and eating), however, any accommodation or restaurant service goes out the door to the customer to ensure you’re wearing a mask. You are asked to check your temperature at the door and wear a mask, which is understandable. However, if you forget to follow their rules or happen to forget for a moment to put your mask on as you stand up, be prepared to be crucified by every staff member.
The bartender was an employee in particular who felt the need to chime into a conversation between my friend and myself and let us know that they are more worried about their business being reported for not enforcing face masks on one individual than they are on your dining experience. She then went to whisper to the rest of the staff and point at our table (regarding what I’m not exactly sure). Meanwhile, they failed to refill the toilet paper in both bathrooms.
Overall, I’d say their food is above average and enjoyable. But I have to wonder if it’s worth going back for the less than enjoyable customer service and staff engagement experience. Coming from someone that worked in a restaurant for 3 years, I’m still in shock from the contagious negative attitude that seems to be going around the staff.
Note to manager: I suggest reevaluating your employees, specifically...
