I'm not usually a person who writes reviews, but after the experience today I knew I had to write this, I had high expectations for Tequilas Tacos & Bar . This was my very first experience here and sadly my last. Okay this visit started out as a not so bad visit, then it turned to something very worst. It was my friend and I very first time visiting, We both ordered drinks, which it took 20 minutes for them to make my friend's drink. Crazy I know for one simple drink. The waiter kept assuring us that the drink was being made, okay that sounds very good, but 20 minutes. Mind you it was during lunch hours and not busy at all with which it appears to have been fully staffed. The drink finally came and was obvious that it had been sitting there for a long time. The ice in the drink had already melted which caused the taste of the drink to become very watery.
My friend ask for a fresh drink, the waiter took the drink and within a few minutes was back. My friend and I said to each other wow that was faster that the first time. The waiter brought my friend his drink with a additional shot of tequila for the inconvenience, which is what we thought. The drink was actually the same watered down drink as before but in a different glass. My friend got up to ask for the manager and the seat cushion failed out. When the manager came over he was told about the drink, the cushion and how dirty the menus were. You would think he would respond with at least an apology, but we didn't get that. The manager was so nonchalant about the issue and the concern of the safety of my friend. The manager only offered to comp the meal. Okay a comp meal is fine but the concern and humility that could've been showed was not given at all. This made my friend decide not to eat his meal.
My meal came and was less than my expectation. So I thought okay I'l just take it home and fix it up more to my liking.When the bill came I was charged an additional cost for a particular type of chicken, which I didn't ask for. I thought with my meal I was getting the type of chicken that came with the meal. I asked the waiter about it which he went to get a team leader of sort to discuss the issue with me. When the team leader came to the table she began telling me that it was additional charge due to the type of chicken. I informed the team leader that I didn't ask for a different type of chicken and that I only asked for chicken rather than the beef, which according to the menu this was an option. The team leader didn't apologize and began to go back and forth with me about the type of chicken and even said I should have told the waiter before eating it. I communicated that I thought the chicken I received was the type of chicken that came with it since I didn't ask for a different type. I communicated that someone decided to give me a different type of chicken that I dd not ask for and now I'm being charged an additional cost for something that I didn't ask for.
I could not believe that the team leader was trying to blame me as the customer for a mistake made by the restaurant. My friend and I said to each other that we will not be back to this restaurant. We decided to come here for a friends birthday as one of us had been here before and was intrigued by the place having a nice photo session set up ( honestly who ever came up with the idea I hope your getting paid very well I’m sure just the set up brings in repeat customers, as we will be ). I arrived before the rest of my friends to ask a favor of the crew and they were very nice and professional. When I came back with the rest of our party we were seated and our waitress what’s Sandra. She was very professional, knew the menu very well and had excellent skills. She made us feel comfortable and helped us all choose our dishes. Sandra has great posture, manners and etiquette, I imagine she’s had a good amount of experience and thanks to her we had a really good time. The environment was very chill, nothing like other bar restaurants with extremely loud music where you can’t hear yourself think and the place wasn’t too full so we got to have a good couple of minutes conversating and taking photos which turned out very nice. When the food arrived we were sat and enjoyed our meals, the rest of the party I was with had some dish that was grilled and they all really liked their meal, the portions are good size as well. I ordered ramen birria which was good as well, I’m not used to my food being high sodium so adding juice of limes, herbs and onion enhanced the experience. When we finished eating the crew was on it and knew just how to help us celebrate our friends big day, they sang and played the instruments, Sandra even played a little joke on our birthday girl which made for a funny video. Read moreOrdered the Texas Rice and several other things off the menu. I informed the manager that the Texas Rice wasn’t very good and I didn’t even take a 2nd bite of it and he (the manager) told me and my friends that his reason of not removing the charge is because “I know my food is good so I’m not removing the charge”. I told him that wasn’t very good customer service; especially that I hadn’t even eaten any of it and he threatened to call law enforcement on me and my friends. Management was very disrespectful, everything else was pretty good besides the Texas Rice; however, I wouldn’t recommend going there as the management is very rude.
Another point, the service was horrible. We waited 15 minutes before being acknowledged and sat down, We were sat at the back of the restaurant and our server came over 2x in the entire 2 hours of being at the restaurant. She got our orders wrong and other servers had to come and apologize on her behalf and fulfill our orders.
Overall the entire experience was horrible. I’ve never felt so disrespected before and this was my first time going and I won’t be going again.
[EDIT:] Please review the screenshot of the response from the owner. In response to the owner who responded: Thank you for your response, it seems very customer friendly with the way your response was stated. I never once stated your food tasted like “Sh*t” I simply explained to you that I had gotten sick off your Texas Rice entree and you stated “I know you didn’t get sick off the food, I know my food is good” and proceeded to let me know about the sign at the front that stated “no refunds” and it escalated on your behalf from there. Also, I hadn’t eaten more than 1 bite off that plate.
