My dad and I wanted to try Afghan food as we've seen it in social media and thought it looked delicious. Upon entry, we stood there for a while as there were no workers to seat us. Finally they came and we were seated. We immediately noticed our silverware had a red substance all over it and didn't look clean. The waiter was very friendly and recommended a few items that we ordered. When the Chai teas came out, there was lipstick on the glasses, and they didn't appear clean. The sample appetizer left more to be desired in terms of flavor and freshness. When the food came out, it was all cold. The wrap was cold, the meat was hard and old, and the lettuce in the wrap was slimy and spoiled. I didn't end up eating it at all. What really shocked me was that the fries came out with ketchup and mayo all over them. They were cold and overall not good. I've never seen this, and the menu didn't specify that. The bathroom was very dirty as well, and the sink (didn't get photos of it). Though this was a terrible experience, I will give Afghan food a try again as I think I would've liked it had it been actually decent. The good reviews on here shock me as there was not one customer there.

We were served with a salad that was so sour or vinegar based that it could clean out your whole digestive system. At the time we visited, the staff was run by a child not much older than 11 years old. We could hear the young crowd talking loudly during our meal. The naan served with our food was cold and was definitely store bought and not freshly baked. The meats and rice tasted fine but my side spinach was very salty. I’m surprised that I didn’t find the salt top inside accidentally dropped. Into my spinach. Overall not the best experience and lastly use the QR CODE on the table for the most accurate prices of the meals are from actually locate in the table and not on the printed menu I which you have to add $2-$3 for the recent increases that have been updated. And I do also agree with the saffron teas, it’s very plainer and tastes like a little flavored warmed teas. I switch to asking for for black tea but got charged for both and they do not seem to provide unlimited servings of less than 3 oz of tea.

If you drive by Afghan Kabob Palace in Charlottesville, Virginia, you'd probably think to yourself "Nope." The building looks perfectly adequate, but not fancy. The location isn't far from anything, but it's a little isolated. It's not random enough to be considered "hole in the wall" either, so they kind of fall into a realm of uncharted gastronomic territory. For those brave enough to enter, they will be rewarded with a journey halfway around the world without the need for a passport. I was so excited to eat that I forgot to photograph the food before digging in! The service was friendly; food was capital D delicious, and the environment was cute. A little warm, but cute! I, for one, feel special knowing there is an authentic, cultural journey for my tastebuds nearby here in central Virginia. But if I could make a case for all other culturally unique establishments out there, check them out because they are often delicious! Start at Afghan Kabob Palace and explore from there if you must!

This was the second time we have been to this restaurant. So disappointing. All of the bottled condiments on the table were super old and greasy and riddled with fruit flies. The salt in the shaker was so old it was stuck together and I had to ask for it to be refilled. It was also covered in grease. The food was over cooked and super bland. I ordered hot tea and it was barely warm. We had the buffet there once before which was average but a bit oily. I am not new to food from this part of the world and was looking forward to having it. It was so disappointing. My husband used the restroom and was horrified by the amount of brown water all.over the toilet and floor and the lota sitting in the middle of the floor. we won't go back there again. It's disappointing also because I know what most Americans think when they hear "Afghanistan". They think dirty terrorists. I am Muslim and try to support Muslim businesses both South Asian and Middle eastern but I cannot recommend this place. It was filthy and the food was poorly prepared. And it was all men in there. Where are the women who are probably the good cooks? If the teenage boy who waited on us was the cook, it definitely showed. Don't even bother with this place. I feel like there isn't much keeping this place open. It was absolutely empty except for men hanging around in the parking lot. A bit...

Afghan Kabob offers a delightful culinary experience that truly captures the essence of traditional Afghan cuisine. From the moment you step in, the warm and inviting atmosphere sets the stage for a memorable dining adventure. The menu is a showcase of rich flavors and aromatic spices, with dishes that are both authentic and beautifully presented.

The standout must-try is undoubtedly their kabobs, which are expertly charred and tender, offering a succulent taste with every bite. The seasoning is spot-on, achieving a perfect balance that complements the high-quality meats. Accompanied by freshly baked naan and a side of fragrant saffron rice, each plate is a testament to the skilled chefs behind the scenes.

Not to be overlooked are the appetizers, particularly the bolani and mantu, which are packed with flavor and make for perfect starters. The service at Afghan Kabob is also commendable; staff are friendly, attentive, and always willing to offer recommendations to enhance your dining experience.

Whether you're a fan of hearty meat dishes or vegetarian offerings, there's something for everyone at this gem of a restaurant. Afghan Kabob doesn't just serve food; it offers a cultural journey that's both delicious and deeply satisfying. It's definitely a place worth visiting and revisiting for anyone who appreciates good food and a...

I made the mistake of returning to this restaurant after a previous poor experience with customer service. I used to love this place—the food was great—but tonight was by far the worst experience I've had. The service was incredibly slow, and when my drink arrived, it came in a dirty glass with lipstick marks. We were a party of four, but only received three sets of silverware and three glasses. I waited patiently, but when I noticed tables that arrived after us were being served first, I decided to speak up. I told the server that I wanted to pay for the side salad I had already eaten (which was part of the meal I ordered) and leave, as I no longer wanted to wait for my food. Instead of understanding, the server argued with me, insisting I needed to wait for my meal and take it. I made it clear that I didn’t want the food anymore and just wanted to pay for what I'd consumed. To my surprise, I was told that if I didn’t want to wait for the full meal, I shouldn’t return to the restaurant. I informed them that I wouldn’t be coming back, given the repeated poor service. To top it off, I was charged $17 for a salad that was supposed to be complimentary with my meal, which I never even received. The lack of respect for customers...
