Marco & Luca Dumplings — Restaurant in Charlottesville

The dumplings are the best I've ever had. All the time, every time, for a decade. I've never even heard of one single dumpling being sub par and I've been eating there since before this location existed.

The location is just as good. You can sit at the window and watch the downtown mall stroll by, or you can sit at one of the cozy interior tables for a more private and less distracting experience. It's relatively small, but they make great use of the space. I think they also added a whole second dining room to keep up! Always very clean and we'll decorated.

Prices are unreasonably low. Years ago I was shocked to see they raised the price, after some math I realized they hadn't even kept up with inflation. It was my #1 choice on the mall when I had no money, and it's still my number one choice when I do.

But, the people are the best part. Polite, friendly, personable, and provide services far beyond expectations. Always with a smile. They work on holidays, and even organized a field trip to teach my whole (2nd grade?) class how to make our own pasta and do calligraphy! They really do a fantastic job and show us all what a local business should be like.

WISH there were more options. People working who I’ve interacted with are sometimes a little bit brusque. If you’re vegetarian don’t even bother just go somewhere else, last time I went there weren’t veggie options. If you like decent pork dumplings I definitely would recommend though. Some people like it better than got dumplings down the street, some would say skip on Marco & Luca for got dumplings. Neither...

The food is 5 star but I have to give 3 for now. I was craving their dumplings soooo badly and saw that they were open til 3. I got there at 11 last night which was a Friday and the sign on the door says open til 2:30 a.m. but they were CLOSED. Hurt my heart! Hopefully they dont usually close earlier than the sign says or maybe it had something to do with the fact that around the corner was another one...
