I kept hearing rave reviews on social media about Bucky's sourdough pizza and finally decided to take the leap.
Placing an order through the website is relatively seamless. Real-time availability is reflected, and I can't tell you how crushed I was when I waited too long to place my order and discovered they were sold out of the pies I wanted. In fact, my sister shared that this is a common complaint about Bucky's - there's a high demand and a limited supply, so get your orders in as soon as you plan on having pizza on the menu. If it helps, orders can be scheduled well ahead of time.
We decided to try a cheese round pie and the hot honey pepperoni grandma pie. Both were smaller than I expected, so much that a slice of the hot honey was just a little larger than my palm.
That said, they're delicious. The hot honey with pepperoni was the clear favorite of the family, with the spiced pepperoni doing a flavor waltz in my mouth against the sweet ricotta and hot honey. The deeper crust of the grandma pie remained relatively crisp, with leftovers being enjoyed by a latecomer hours after we'd eaten.
I'll leave this an added note for those watching their blood sugar - the sourdough crust seems to affect the glycemic index of these pizzas. I wear a continuous glucose monitor, and pizza typically makes my blood sugar spike off the charts. I was pretty surprised to find that Bucky's pizza doesn't have the same effect, and my levels remained within a normal range. Of course, pizza isn't the healthiest meal around, but it's nice to know that a slice or two from Bucky's won't tip the scales too far.
Free parking is available in the lot, though when I was there to pick up my order, it seemed that Bucky's customers were taking up the majority of...
Read moreThere's a lot to say about this Pizzeria. First and foremost, do NOT make any assumptions about this place based on the location. Yes. It's in a small strip mall. Coming from the Pizza Triangle of North Jersey, I am accustomed to pizzerias as stand alone places...each with big signs and such. However, I've learned a long time ago that in the pizza game, Judge Not, Taste It First.
The interior is also quite unassuming. You can see the ovens as soon as you walk in, some bar seating along the wall and some booths along the wall as you walk into the back room dining area. The dining area probably doesn't get used as much as one might imagine...not for lunch at least. There were several booths occupied when we got there.
Each booth has a can of tomato sauce with the QR code taking you to the menu. Another can holds the napkins.
The real magic happens when the pizza gets put on your table. We order two of the Detroit style pizzas that are cooked in rectangular pans and not 8x10 and yield six perfectly sized pizza bites. To be honest I don't think it matters which pizza you order, I have every reason to believe that each and every one of them will be delicious. I had the Cacio e Pepe pizza and I asked him to put some Mike's hot honey on it and I recommend if you order it do the same.
another truly amazing thing about this place besides the taste of the pizzas Is the amazing staff. For the most part the place is staffed by an amazing group of young kids that are friendly hard-working cheerful knowledgeable and dedicated.

Read moreI can’t really remark on this place because I was stopped at the door and greeted with a very cold “picking up”? About 6 employees and no one was able to welcome me in. I asked for a slice and the woman at the front stumbled around for words so I left. I would have loved being able to at least make it to the case with pizza to have a look but that didn’t happen. Also I have 20/20 vision and their menu is that cute Williamsburg gentrifying slat wall with movable letters that’s supposed to make it feel like “the old days” too bad their instagram fame has gotten to their heads and cut out the customer experience, the only thing that matters. They’ll reply and call me rude, but I’m the customer and they are the professionals that should know how to handle the situation.
There wasn’t a response to the way in which I was questioned of my intentions upon arrival rather than being welcomed and offered a product or a service. I have to agree with another reviewer that commented on the discomfort they felt from multiple sets of eyeballs following you from the second you enter the door. There isn’t a comfortable, out of the way space to be able to look at you menu without being in the way of individuals entering or exiting, and an empty showcase with a number of employees doing the administrative work that should come second or at least not be as evident to a customer is a dystopian, corporate morph of what a casual dining experience should be. Your business made me feel like a byproduct of a...
