I love, adore, am obsessed with Charley's Aunt! I love the people who frequent it as well as those who work there. The food is awesome, always exactly what I want. The drinks are also very good. Adam is my favorite bartender, though the others are awesome too Adam just always goes above and beyond for his customers. If you're ever feeling down, stop by Charley's Aunt in Chatham and you will be greeted with warm, happy smiles that will help you forget all of your worries - at least while you're there anyway! I personally know the owners as well as the back-of-house staff and I love them all! I've also witnessed (back when indoor dining was still a thing) the kitchen staff cleaning and disinfecting the kitchen very thoroughly (from what was visible, since I obviously can't see the entire kitchen). They've been a family-owned and operated favorite local restaurant and bar for over 50 years! Conveniently located less than a block from the Chatham Train Station, it is a place you don't want to miss! Stop in and support them especially during these strange COVID times, you will be glad you did! P.S.: I've been going there since they've opened up for outdoor dining and they're still impressing me with their excellent service, high quality food and drinks, as well as impeccable safety and sanitization practices which they've amped up even more due to COVID. They have a really cool patio outside in the back too it's referred to as "The Alley," and it is so cozy and beautiful every time I'm there I feel like family and I never...
Read moreWe went on a Thursday night after work at 9pm and it was packed and super loud inside. Our waiter Joe wasn't helpful at all, have off a weird vibe like he was all that and didn't have time since his friends were here.... The first issue is that I wanted to save my plate and utensils and he had the nerve to touch them and place them on the table. Secondly... They really need to learn how to make unsweetened iced tea, it was so gross, I couldn't drink it. He (out waiter) walked by numerous times and eyed my drink sitting away from us, on the far corner and said nothing. I said it was gross and I didn't like it and he did nothing about it. My husband ordered the Chipotle burger and mozzarella carozza. He was happy with both, I didn't like the red sauce. My crab cake sandwich was nothing to write home about, it was edible but flavorless. The waiter walked by a few times, we mad eye contact, ad yet he still did not stop to see if we needed anything. Not once.
Maybe I would come back for drinks here, maybe, but probably...
Read moreBased on the reviews I wondering if I was in the right spot. My experience was completely different. We sat ourselves in the back corner, we were told just sit anywhere. We were bombarded with flies the moment our food cane out. My daughter's meal was ruined almost immediately by Flies landing on it. We put up a gallant fight keeping the flies off my Granddaughter's food. I luckily made it safely eating the blandiest wings I ever had. Had to ask for some hot sauce to give them some life. My drumsticks were little chunks of chicken that had been cut in halve. Totally Lane, the pasta fagoli soup was flavorless too. The service was nearly non existent as nobody came to check on us until we were able to flag someone down. They did take the unbeaten salad off the bill. It was not as great a place like others reviewed far from it. My feelings is without the flies, the food & service is mediocre...
